Supposing that the metal is a sacrificial metal, any metal will do. The most commonly used metal is zinc, which is used for anode rods in water heaters. You can simply clamp the zincs on with red locktite. They will eventually loosen and you will end up losing them if they corrode. It has proven to be stable all season thanks to locktite.
I also had to purchase two (2 total), so I bought Anodes consist of two halves that are assembled to create one (1) complete unit. The answer is two (2) anodes, no way around it.

If you need to add anodes to your boat, these are the ones you should use. Delivery in a timely manner.
This anode has a much longer life than other.
