I was concerned that it might flex, but it's incredibly sturdy. The layers of carbon can also be seen. This isn't a veneer finish, so don't expect it to look like one. It is the genuine article.

It's possible that a water jet is involved. I used the proper settings as well as a good Amana bit designed specifically for carbon. On this carbon fiber, I did two test cuts, and in both of them, the layers of the carbon fiber separated from the middle. There isn't a top or a bottom to it. It doesn't have anything to do with the cut or the tooling. It's a separation in the carbon fiber layers. This is something I will never do again.
