There are at least as many pieces as there should be in these sets, but the distribution is confusing Eight plus six plus seven is more like it.
I bought two sets at once and received extras of brass and steel at the expense of two large brass and one medium.

This kit was decent for a first time buyer such as myself at the time, but did not come with all sizes for all of the metals in the kit. I found the brass sizes to be the most plentiful while aluminum provided the fewest. Stainless steel, though it had a decent selection, is just too hard for what I need. I never would do that again. The kit is decent, but I wouldn't buy it.

There were 21 rods inside a plastic box that had broken on the way to Amazon, and all 21 of them had fallen out. The rods arrived as advertised and will work well. I had a little trouble with the heating. Plastic inserts are glued into the broken plastic box to repair it. The packaging looks bad, but at least the product will now be held by it.

As this is my first attempt at making knives, I decided to buy these to have options when making It was good for me to purchase it, as I learned what I liked and what I did not like. I found that I do not need the smaller sizes so I will buy based on size, not Choosing this size can be a good option if you are uncertain of the right size for you.

Please read the diameters and lengths specified in the assortment to make sure the assortment is what you expect. For my prototyping, they were very useful in terms of sizes and assortment. My first attempt was to make a part out of aluminum because it's the easiest to machine. I then modified it as required, and once the modifications were completed, I created the final part out of stainless steel. I was able to learn that I can order some long rod to see that I can get some production efficiencies. A lot of rods may not be used for a long time, so you do not have to waste a lot of money on some rods you may not use.

I am very pleased with the quality of the pins- We haven't used them in knives, but they have a good feel. As for the reason that I gave 4 stars instead of 5 stars, it was that they were shipped in a completely crushed case and this resulted in the boxes being damaged. While bending the thin pin, it bent one of the thicker ones.
