The first batch raveled badly in the tube during transit, so we had some problems with that. By changing the cutting method and taping the exposed ends, we were able to solve the problem. Since then, we have had no problems. All of our reviews are important to us, especially the negative ones, because they help us improve our products. br>Wernher von Braun was quoted as saying: "If you launch a rocket and it doesn't explode, you've learned nothing."
This carbon fiber is conductive (as is all carbon fiber), but I'm not sure what the Ohms/Ft are. Because resistance is proportional to cross sectional area, I suspect that number would vary depending on the epoxy system used and the thickness and width of the strip under test.
No, it isn't heat resistant. Try searching for Dragon Plate on Yahoo. They're a great supplier. They either have it or can make it for you.
You could sew the cloth into clothing with a sewing machine. Dealing with the fraying edges, on the other hand, would be tedious, and the material is rough and stiff, making it unsuitable for clothing.
Selected User Reviews For Aerospace Grade Carbon Fiber Cloth, 50" X 12"
All of the fabric's edges were torn and loose, resulting in usable dimensions being reduced by about 1" on all sides. Last year, I ordered a sheet of CF with a much cleaner cut. Due to the project's small size, it's almost impossible to finish it.
There were no frays or snags in the product when it arrived rolled in a clear plastic protective tube. I've ordered carbon fiber cloth from other commercial vendors before, and this item stood up to them all. I make RC sailboat hulls out of carbon fiber, and it worked well with West Systems epoxy. This is a vendor from whom I would place another order. There is nothing to complain about.
Does exactly what it was created for?.
I'd say it's closer to ten. The usable width ranged from 5 to 11 inches, which was sufficient for my needs. This was a breeze to wet out (I used West Systems 105/205), and it didn't fray nearly as much as I expected while working around the frayed edges. I'd gladly order it again, but it's a shame the manufacturer can't cut it more cleanly or do something to prevent the edges from unraveling so much during the manufacturing/packaging process for this width.
It wasn't cut at 5 feet, but at 4 feet. To make my piece longer, I had to cut a section off the side and add it on. To be honest, it wasn't really worth the money; I would recommend spending a little more and getting something a little better.
It would have been preferable if the sellers had specified the carbon (and likely other elements) content of the fiber. To find out more about this, I had to call the company. Aside from that, the packaging was excellent, and it appears to have improved over time in comparison to previous reviews.
I simply despise spending my money because the product does not match the picture!.
It's a fantastic group of people who work here.
