I saw a video about using chopped fiber for fiberglassing and went straight to Amazon to look it up. br>br>I was intrigued by the Fasco chopped fiber and decided to try it. Although the prices were nearly identical across Amazon, the majority of sellers demanded $15 to $20 in shipping! Then I came across the Fasco Enterprises website, where the chopped fiber was seventeen dollars plus shipping (I am an Amazon Prime member). It took two days to arrive. I went into the store right away to give it a try. It's a million times better than what you'd get at home. It's well-made and ideal for reinforcing joints or molding around intricate shapes. Objects in various shapes br>br>I wholeheartedly endorse Fasco Enterprises! Their selection, prices, and shipping are all excellent, and I will gladly work with them again, despite the fact that I've only tried one of their products.
The stiffness of the chop, however, was not what I had expected for what I needed. I used it to thicken epoxy and use it to glue wood strips together. It should suffice, in my opinion. Cotton phlox and fumed silica were the other two options. br>Because of the chopped strands, brushing was difficult. I chose to make a dip and wet out joint by making a trough of chopped and pressing the whetted strip into the mat and clamping it together with the other whetted strip. br>It all boils down to having a goal in mind.
It does exactly what it says on the tin, thickening and strengthening epoxy resin. The chops are of a consistent size. I recommend adding a small amount of epoxy to your epoxy at a time because a little goes a long way.
It's a good way to give resin more structural strength, especially when it's used as a filler. Use as needed to achieve the consistency you're looking for. When combined with fumed silica (cabosil), a filler that is as thick as peanut butter and structurally sound can be created.
When large spaces with irregular shapes necessitate large amounts of material, it's mixed with epoxy or polyester resins and used as a super strong filler.
This was used to reinforce a thin concrete floor layer. Did an excellent job, and I will use them again if I need to do something similar in the future.
Finally, learning to add fibers after the stylist and everything else has been thoroughly mixed in order to avoid disturbing the fibers, but these chopped fibers stay together extremely well and mix even better. I used this product to restore an old fiberglass sailboat, and it worked perfectly.
Great product; it was exactly what I needed, it wasn't too long, and it's amazing how little goes a long way. The delivery was also fantastic. On Tuesday, after business hours, I placed an order. On Wednesday afternoon, it was delivered to my door.
