Questions & Answers
Orange caps are characteristic of Pyrex.
In addition to wearing gardening gloves during pouring at 118 degrees, I also have small hands. As the slim is 120mm, my hand feels more comfortable in it. It takes less effort to pour without spilling compared to the 120mm.
It's the PBT caps that come with the silicone insert and are more corrosion resistant than the PP ones, they're thicker, more sturdy, have a higher temperature rating, and are also more expensive. Orange and blue caps are PP, or polypropylene, is what they are made of. You might also want to use yellow gas line PTFE tape on threads and spray the inside of a cap with dupont teflon spray or order thin PtFE disks if one is paranoid.

Put pour rings on the jar. There is no doubt that these Pyrex containers are high quality, having strong lids and thick glass. Their height is just a little longer than traditional 500ml versions, but not much more. This includes the plastic pour rings used to ensure the consistency of the pour. It doesn't seem to affect cooling rate of the agar at all, possibly thanks to the Krater's thicker glass compared to the narrower profile of the Krater's top series.
Agar is well packaged and is.
The expectations you have of Pyrex.
Agar or media require a volume of 500 ml, and probably 400 ml of usable volume if autoclaving. It is now possible to pour cleanly into petri dishes using synthetic pouring tins. The average lab setting should be capable of at least a couple of years of service, but with home use, they will probably never need replacing.
The fact that it is sturdy and does a good job is appealing.
Easy to clean, surprisingly sturdy.
A rugged landscape. This is top-notch. Pour the agar into the SAB and it works well.
