It is essential to have a good grasp on dangerous tools. Scalpels like this one have a lot of weight and heft to them. This is my go-to tool for building hobby airplanes, since it is simple to change blades.
This sturdy stainless steel handle will stand up to daily use, has a good finish for hobbyists, and holds blades securely. It took a very long time for the order to be shipped/transferred - that's the only complaint. So I wasn't in a hurry to get it when I ordered it. This handle is a much better pick than the more expensive, but far more fragile Swann Morton handle, which is made of pressed or cast material, and broke as soon as I dropped it.
The price is very reasonable for this product. A good fit between the blade and handle was achieved.
In the case of blades, getting the blade on and off is difficult (and therefore dangerous). Not happy at all.
Buying this item was rebuy, as I liked the item that I bought a year ago. . . unfortunately this time the item that arrived does not have a graduated handle, and the groove for the blade is not well made, so you have to force it in, which does not fit fully.
It works the same as other blade holders.
