I really needed hemostats, and the photo wasn't clear enough for me to see that the description was incorrect; a curse on the person who mislabeled a needle holder as a hemostat. This is something I would never have purchased. Because the tips aren't carbided properly, it's useless as a needle holder on top of everything else.
This item was lacking in my opinion. I bought it with the intention of using it to grab sewing threads and threads, which it did for a while before failing. I know how to use hemostats because I'm a registered nurse. To make it work, I had to add a rubber tube to one side!.
I am extremely dissatisfied with the needle holders I received. I'm writing because I live in Colombia and asked a friend from the United States to bring them to me when he came to visit. I got them a few days ago, and the needle holder looks great when it's closed, but when you open it, it's not leveled (as you can see in the photo) and doesn't hold the suture properly. This is a surgical instrument that must be precise, and I ordered two of them, and they are identical. This purchase has left me very disappointed. They are not suitable for surgical procedures, so I do not recommend them.
does what it is supposed to do.
This is what I use to help me quilt using paper piecing. All of the ratchets must be closed before the jaws can come together completely. I'm a surgical nurse, so I'm used to working with medical-grade equipment. The instrument is in good working order and makes good cuts. The jaws should be able to meet without the ratchets having to be closed.
It's ideal for changing cartilage piercings, especially those that are difficult to reach (daith, tragus). The locking mechanism is extremely tight, but with practice, it can be easily released. It's very useful!.
I wish I had asked one of my doctors or read the reviews first because these aren't hemostats - They're needle drivers, in other words. Good needle drivers, which is why I gave them two stars instead of one because of the false advertising.
