The footrests can, in fact, be removed.

My husband weighs around 200 pounds and is a little rough on things, but this appears to be quite durable so far. We've only had it for a few months and haven't used it much because we only needed it for a short time. It was simple to fold once I realized I should grab the seat rather than the arms. It can be stored in a small space. Regardless of what the ad says about blue, it is available in black. Best wishes and good luck.
I'm just a regular guy who bought this chair. If you contact the seller, you'll get more precise information. It's pointless to be enraged by me.

After a recent disappointing experience purchasing an Invacare wheelchair, I am unable to recommend Medical Department Stores. We chose this company because the photo and item title were exactly what we were looking for, not because they had the best price (which they didn't). The chair was delivered quickly, but it was a different color and had a different armrest style than the photo and title indicated. Medical Department Stores informed us that the color and armrest features we ordered had changed and were no longer available when we contacted them. Invacare confirmed that, while the color had changed, the armrest style we wanted was still available (BOTH styles of armrests had recently been revised, but BOTH styles were still available). br>br>Customer service at Medical Department Stores informed us that there was a disclaimer in small print at the bottom of their ad that absolved them of any responsibility for making it right, despite the fact that they were aware that their photo and title were incorrect and had not bothered to change them. br>br>To summarize, the Invacare wheelchair was adequate and of reasonable quality for the price, but it was not exactly what we had requested. "Customer service" at Medical Department Stores was essentially a bunch of uninterested people reading their scripts about why they weren't legally obligated to do anything about the problem. They do finally say that we could "request" a Return Authorization (not given automatically, as they would need to review the reason for the return), but reading through their Return% Fee for stocking. br>br>I advise caution when dealing with Medical Department Stores, as their photos and titles are not always accurate. Their "disclaimer" basically says that they can send you anything they want, and you have no choice but to deal with the hassle, expense, and re-sending. To return it, you'll have to pay a restocking fee. I'm sure I won't be purchasing anything else from them in the future.
We were still looking at a bill of over $450 even with insurance (and good insurance at that). 00! I got this for $150 on Amazon, and I didn't even have to use insurance! I couldn't be more pleased! The wheelchair in and of itself. Grandpa, who is notorious for being difficult to please, is overjoyed! Since I took it for a test drive, Grandpa and I both agree that the wheelchair is very durable, comfortable, and simple to use.
This chair has been in my possession for about two months. My first impression was that it was a little heavy, but serviceable; the rear tires appeared to be a little skinny, and it had a small flat spot on the right front tire that caused it to wiggle a little, but I figured it would even out with time (spoiler alert: it got worse). When I first started using it, I quickly discovered that the front tires were completely useless if I came across a small crack or even grout between tiles. They would immediately turn sideways, halting the chair's forward motion (and, thanks to its front-heavy design, tipping forward, dumping me out). Because the parts that hold the front tires to the rest of the chair appear to be made of plastic, the part that holds the tire to the rest of the chair also flexes. The chair now makes sounds like it's trying to fall apart, and this occurred within the first month of owning it. br>br> I called the Invacare phone number listed on the product as the number to call if there are any broken parts, missing parts, or other issues with the chair, only to be told that because they sell through Amazon, they don't have to respond to what they're selling. They even kept claiming that they don't sell individual chairs as if that was a good enough reason. br>br>I am a low-income disabled person with spina bifida. I was kindly given the money (as an early birthday gift) so that I could buy this chair and regain my mobility, some of my independence, and be able to go to appointments, do my shopping, and socialize. Now, the chair wobbles side to side and has a kind of riding a horse motion, it lists to the left even on flat surfaces, the tires spin whenever there is the slightest imperfection on the ground, it makes creaky noises, but I have no choice but to use
PS - I apologize for not being able to photograph or film the tires or the sorry state of this barely three-month-old chair. I simply couldn't figure out how to film it on my own. If I can get a friend to come over and assist me, I'll update my review to include that information. TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL DR - The Invacare wheelchair is a complete waste of money. Purchase is not recommended.
