Today, I placed an order for new bags. The due date has passed, as far as I can tell. However, as a long-time Prime Member and a significant customer for my income, I must inform you that this product (RUSCH Teleflex Medical) is a complete failure. I've had major leakage failures every time I've used it. I've used them three times now and have recently stopped using them. EXTREMELY EMBARRASSING was one of the leaks. I teach at a prestigious business school as a lecturer. The VERY FAULTY/ILL DESIGNED VALVE FAILED IN THE MIDDLE OF MY LECTURE IN FRONT OF MORE THAN 20 BANK EXECUTIVES, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS FULLY CLOSED. Urine began to run down my leg, staining my trouser leg and making me look ridiculous, much to my surprise. I would hire an attorney and sue if I could (and I teach law). br>Please make a note of this on my Amazon account; I only complain when you send a defective product. She was having a hard time with the bags provided by her doctor because the emptying nozzle was similar to that on an Elmer's Glue bottle, and she was having a hard time with them because her hands were also affected. It was difficult to open and close, and it frequently leaked. It would lock up after a day or two, and even pliers couldn't move it. The nozzle on THESE bags, on the other hand, is as simple as turning on a light. She no longer has any issues, and I would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone. They last twice as long as the other kind because the nozzle is so simple to use. This is a huge relief for her, and anything that makes her day a little easier when you have MS is a blessing.
Due to urine back up, I, like many others, developed a rash around my stoma. There is no way to treat it with salve or ointment. The bag collects the urine in the pouch, preventing it from backing up and causing irritation. It's also useful for going to a play, a movie, or traveling by plane or car for long periods of time. However, Medicare has decided that it's not a convenience item. I'm guessing that few of them have to deal with stomas. Fortunately, Amazon's price is significantly lower than that of a medical supply store.
My only issue is with leaks. The bags arrived exactly as described online, with an excellent drain valve and bag size. I'm one of those people who tries to get the most use out of each bag by wearing it for longer than the manufacturer suggests. I've tried every type of wearable leg bag and have settled on the Rusch 500 ml. to be the most outstanding of the group I wear them with pocket underwear that is designed to hold the bag in place without the use of straps. Straps are terrible, and the specialized underwear is miles ahead of anything else. Even if you walk the course, you can go golfing without any problems. Sporting Clays, Trap, and Skeet can all be done with a catheter in place. Gardening, mowing, and yard work are all simple tasks that you can do on your own. Because I'm a small man, the 500 ml is sufficient for me. For me, the model is the most effective. The 1000 ml may be sufficient for a larger man. They're simply too big and uncomfortable for me. Security can only be ensured by closing the gate valve. Unless they break down due to old age, they will not fail. When the valves become difficult to open or close, I discard them. For me, that'll be a two-week trip with two washings in between. Any kind of vigorous movement will cause the twist valve bags to open. For invalids or those who need to use a wheelchair, they are suitable. If you're busy, they'll open at the worst possible time, and once they start to leak, you won't be able to shut off the valve in time. The contents will be worn by you. Rusch ! Keep your clothes dry.
It came with five bags, but they were all defective. We tried everything we could to get the urine from the catheter to flow into the bag, but it wouldn't. We tried spreading the sides of the bag to equalize pressure inside and out before using it, and we did so several times throughout the day, but the urine still backed up into the bladder. The bag would occasionally fold over on itself at the top, making collecting and draining even more difficult. My husband was admitted to a large hospital once more - catheter with a particular design - At the very least, he can reduce the risk of infection and the return of old urine to his bladder.
He is sleeping much better now. br>The only thing I would change next time is to get a larger overnight bag so that it does not have to be emptied in the middle of the night. But that is my fault, not the product's; it is a fantastic product.
