You'd need more than one, but I don't think that's a problem.
There is only one item. For a pair of crutches, I'll need to order two. They are extremely effective.
It doesn't come with a protective cover, so I position it so that when it's flipped up, it's on the front of the cane, facing forward, and out of my way. I've been using one for a long time and have never been snagged by it being positioned this way. I hope this has been of assistance.

In theory, this is fantastic. The canes aren't difficult to put on, but because I use two, it's a lengthy process. To begin, stop, pick up each cane, turn it over to reach the squeeze mechanism, and release the pivot so it flips back up if you're going from outside to inside. Second, if you're not careful, they'll catch on everything, including shoe laces, skirts, and pant legs, once you've put them on and flipped them up for inside use. It's just not practical to bring a Phillips screwdriver and a bag into the house with you so you can remove the items once inside and then put them back on before leaving. Plus, unless you stop and flip the spikes up again, if you're only on ice or snow part of the time and a sidewalk that's been cleared part of the time, you'll lose traction with just the spikes. I wish there was a better way to use these canes for people who really need them for balance. If you do, stopping to pick up the cane and change positions will be difficult if you don't have another leaning point or a place to sit.
a father in his sixties who walks with a cane on a regular basis My father has used grippers on his shoes for years (Yaktrax or something similar), but he had never had anything for his cane, so I bought it for him and had it shipped directly to him. He was able to attach it to his cane with little effort (I believe he only needed a screwdriver and pliers). He also figured out how to fold the gripper part up and out of the way (I believe you push in on the two white tabs on the side to flip it up). In fact, he called me this morning to thank me (again) and say that it worked perfectly on the icy snow they received the night before. He even joked that he could sell some of them to other people his age at the gym where he works out! LOL! br>br>Knowing that he is much less likely to slip on the ice and snow (especially since we don't live in the same town) gives me a lot of comfort. br>br>The bottom line is that it's simple to set up and use.
This is a must-have if you use a cane and live in an area where it gets icy in the winter. Item is available. With just a screwdriver, it attaches to the cane in a matter of minutes. Spike swings out of position to protect floors when used indoors, and swings down for use on icy surfaces when used outdoors.
I've gotten a lot of compliments on how simple it is to flip the prongs up to go inside and down to go outside. I recommended that people buy this item on Amazon.
It's very simple to set up and take down. When installed, with a little file work on the edges of the "points," they make a decent self-defense tool.
I don't use a cane, but it's a long walk to the mailbox, and it keeps me safe on an icy deck, etc.
This particular manufacturer is adequate, but there is a superior competitor on the market. made. This one, on the other hand, is perfectly acceptable and extremely useful on a slick sidewalk.
I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but I'm already in love with it. It kept me safe on ice, including black ice, and I'm excited to use it again in the summer. It'll also come in handy on the lawn. It simply serves to reassure me that I am in control. This is something I've told everyone I know about. For $9, you get a lot of protection!!.
