Questions & Answers
Yes, the diameter of the bar is 1 1/4".
The bath bar isn't chromed, so it's not particularly gleaming. It has a more "brushed" look to it.
I don't believe the 1 1/4" is designed specifically for smaller hands, but it would be a better fit than the 1 1/2".

The hardware, on the other hand. Greetings, Moen. br> Your brand name is gold-plated. Why tarnish your brand with cheap, foreign hardware when it has such high value for a good company? Fire your hardware buyer and replace him or her with someone who knows what they're doing. Don't let accounts dictate decisions based on pennies. Your company's name is worth a lot more. br> I made a purchase of two bars. Both were exactly as described and were extremely well constructed. The hardware was a complete disaster. Two of the twelve (two bars) screws had tilted (bent) heads, a coarse thread pitch (difficult to get into a 2/4 even with a pilot hole), and head slots that were too shallow and the wrong shape- It was impossible to keep a 2 Phillips in them without it camming out and tearing up the head. After destroying two of them, I decided to call it a day just 1/4" short of victory. I drove an hour round trip to ACE Hardware and purchased 12 properly pitched stainless steel screws with poper 2 heads, which I used to quickly install both bars (hex or Torx heads would be even better). If you buy these, throw away all but one of the screws, take it to your local hardware store, and purchase some high-quality hardware to install them with. You'll save time and have lower blood pressure as a result.
The securemount hardware that was advertised in the description and shown in the installation video is not included with this product. It comes with wood screws and can only be mounted to wall studs. If you want to secure it to sheet rock, you'll have to buy the securemount hardware separately, which costs TWICE as much as the grab bar.
All of the most recent reviews have been five stars. This one was chosen because it was labeled as an Amazon's Choice, and the video shows how to install SecureMount hardware in a hollow wall. Exactly what I was looking for - As a result, I bought two. The safety bars will be fantastic, but what about the mounting hardware for hollow walls? What is to be expected? That, obviously, isn't included. The hardware shown was not included in the purchase at any point. It wasn't even listed as a possible add-on purchase in the frequently purchased together options. When I filled out Amazon's online customer service form, I received the following response: "Sorry to hear this. Please get in touch with the producer. " Really? This item was purchased and shipped from Amazon, according to its fulfillment. com. So, no, I won't be contacting the manufacturer, and yes, Amazon and their misleading product description have completely disappointed me.
Not True! First and foremost, it is not included; if you want the "SecureMount" system, you must pay $21 for it. 32 for each mount, with a maximum pull rate of only 300 pounds (not ADA compliant). The product description is very misleading. 6 2 inch stainless steel wood screws with phillips heads are included with the Grab Bar. You'll need to locate a wood stud in your sheet rock wall to use this installation method. At doorways and short walls, studs are typically 16" on center or 24" on center; however, the distance between studs is up to the carpenter who built your house. This installation system will provide you with a 500-pound pull rate as well as a better installation that complies with ADA standards. This installation is not as straightforward as the SecureMount suggests in the video and written product description, and it may necessitate the services of a professional.
After being installed by our local contractor, the bars do an excellent job of keeping my husband safe. br>However, after only two weeks of use in the morning shower bath, one of the bars has rusted. br>I'm just baffled as to how such a reputable company as Moen can sell such a subpar product.
Because all of them are covered by the plate, I had to use deck screws to mount them, which is about as good as it gets. Why would a company make such a strong bar and then provide you with such shoddy hardware to attach it? If you buy these bars, which I recommend, make sure you get some tempered deck screws to install them. After all, they're tempered and heat hardened, and they're painted with a rust-resistant paint; however, if possible, they would have received 6 stars for the screws.
Excellent product that provides a rock solid grab bar, which I love because it adds safety to the shower or other areas of the house. very good br>Recent changes: 19 Bars are a great heavy-duty option. The screws, on the other hand, are a disaster. They have a tendency to strip out the Phillips screw hole, making proper tightening nearly impossible. as well as their elimination. FORGET ABOUT IT. br>I assume this is to prevent all you "monster men" out there from overtightening in bathrooms over tile or ceramic and cracking the tile. br>If you are a normal person with a small amount of judgment. "10 (3/16) x 2"br>HEX HEAD STAINLESS METAL SCREWS with stainless washers are recommended. Because they have a hex head, you should tighten them properly with a nut driver rather than a screwdriver. BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVER TIGHTEN WHEN INSTALLING OVER TILE OR PORCELIN. If you use the hex head, you can also remove them if necessary.
This was installed about six weeks ago in a newly tiled shower, and two rust spots on the bar were discovered today.
