On silver plate, I would be hesitant to use such a product. It's preferable to invest in a good jeweler's cloth. A sheet of cloth with rouge compound embedded in the fibers is used by some. They work well without removing much material, and some contain an ingredient that helps to prevent tarnishing in the future. This will work, but the plating will be worn off after a few rubdowns.
It's what I use on chrome-plated banjos and nickel-plated revolvers. It should work fine on sterling silver, in my opinion.

It was filthy and tarnished to the point of being unusable. This stuff was incredible. It did a fantastic job, to be sure. The weapon appeared to be brand new when it was taken out of the box. I used a dremel tool with a felt pad to spread the cream and clean the area to make it easier on my hand. Then it was just a matter of buffing with a clean cloth. It performed admirably once more. Even my father was blown away by the results.
This is incredible! It removed the tarnish without the need to scrub. I tested it on a variety of metals and it worked perfectly. Due to the fumes and strength of the product, you will need to wear a mask and gloves, which I strongly advise you to do.
This is something I've been doing for a long time.
The belt buckle had a mirror finish, which we used in the academy. More will be purchased!.
Chrome grill is being polished. It polishes to a near-nickel finish on stainless steel, which it excels at.
This stuff is incredible, but only use it on blued weapons; otherwise, it's fantastic.
