Is a hand die capable of threading this rod?

You might be able to thread this on a lathe, but because these are hardened, I don't think a die would work well.

For 3D printers, this is a good quality

I didn't check to see if it's exactly 400 mm, but it appears to be fine. It's what I'm using for a dual z axis upgrade on my Ender 5, and it's perfect. It's a little less expensive than Misumi, but it appears to be of comparable quality. I was slightly irritated by the fact that they were sent separately - For two rods, I had to use two enormous boxes, but I suppose it's well packaged.

This could be used as an axle for a solar panel that pivots. Set screws on the drive gear could not even dent it, so it appears to be of high quality. To secure the two, I had to grind a flat spot on the shaft.
