Remove the baffles first; there are two screws on each side of the baffles, which are difficult to see. Call the vent hood's manufacturer, and they'll walk you through the process, just as they did for me.
It's moderate to difficult, but it's doable if you have a strong "problem-solving" brain. The use of an impact driver, a stubby phillips screwdriver, and vinyl pry tools will be beneficial. It's a must to wear gloves. The stainless steel has the ability to shave you like a razor. While you're at it, replace Broan SV12969 BLACK KNOB NS as well.

This is my second purchase. Our vent hood is fantastic, but the controls only last about 5 years before they need to be replaced. We've gone through two control assembly replacements and one switch replacement.
I replaced it, but it didn't fix the problem. br>I had a warranty program, and they gave me one, so I guess I have an extra now that the tech installed it, but the blower never worked.
It did exactly what it said it would do. Although we had some difficulty understanding the installation instructions, we were able to save $200 by doing it ourselves.
It now works flawlessly and has saved me a significant amount of money! So Happy!.

I was able to save a significant amount of money by not purchasing directly from the manufacturer. It fits perfectly and feels even smoother than it did 20 years ago when it was first installed.
Yes, the product worked and was less expensive than ordering directly from the manufacturer, but after 5 months, it suddenly stopped working. NOT HAPPY AT ALL. Oh, and when I tried to reorder, the cost increased from $88 to $135.
