As I was skeptical of the accuracy, I used my postage scale to apply 20 pounds of pressure and it was accurate. The track tension gauge is easy to use and provides a quick assessment of the track's The unit is a bit pricey at $40, but if you have ever used a pull down scale and measuring tape, you understand why it is worth it. Several reviews stated that the numbers were just sticker labels that would wear off over time. A lot would have to go wrong in order for these markings to be ruined.
It was sewer who recommended it to me, and I still recommend it. If there was one improvement it would be to put the scales on the body rather than on the stickers, but stickers are durable and should hold up for quite a while.
About once a season, it's wise to check the tension in your skis' tracks, and this tool has a nice gauge that takes the guesswork out of the equation. I like the way it's laid out and how it works. It was only after getting the gauge that I noticed that the number scale had begun peeling off of the sticker, a condition that has now progressed far enough that the gauge will become virtually worthless without the label. Even so, the garage remains a nice place to keep it.
The performance of the system was slightly improved by this change. Although I prefer to think the benefits of reduced wear will outweigh the costs.
As a result, I am concerned that the sticker will eventually wear off, considering that after only one use it already shows signs of peeling.
