Hi there. Is it true that these snap rings will fit into a 1/2 inch hole? if that's the case, what's the actual inner-workings of it? I'm looking for a minimum of a 3/8, dia?

The 3/8 size that I bought was too big for the opening that I used it in. To achieve a tight fit, I had to apply silicone to the opening.
