TIG welding rods made of premium quality ER70S-6 mild steel alloy with a copper coating; diameter 0. With a 36" length, 045", 1/16", 3/32", and 1/8" are available. 5-pound and 10-pound packages are available.
AWS A5 specification was followed. 18/ASME SFA A5 is a standard that was developed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers 18/ER70S-6 welding rods are 36" (914mm) long and have a single end stamped. Argon/CO2 is used as a shielding gas.
ER70S-6 is a general-purpose welding wire for mild steel fabrication that contains higher levels of manganese and silicon to produce high-quality welds when used for TIG welding (GTAW) on dirty, oily, or rusted steel. Deoxidizers also provide better wetting, a flatter bead shape, and the ability to travel at faster speeds, as well as improved weld pool fluidity, resulting in a smoother bead appearance and less post-weld grinding.
Repairs on mild and low alloy steel, small diameter pipe and tubing, sheet metal applications, and root pass pipe welding are all examples of typical applications.

What is the approximate number of rods you will receive?
Trent, I didn't count the full length rods when I received them, so I cut 36 inch filler rods in half before unpacking them to better suit my welding needs. When compared to the other 5 lb packs that I received/had on hand, the overall package felt like a 5 lb package; however, I've only used about 45 percent of the rods so I can't give you a count at this time. In theory, 14-year-olds should be allowed to participate. For the 3/32 size rods, there are 16 full length rods per pound.
Is there anything magnetic about the rods?
These TIG rods are made of steel and will stick to a magnet, but they are not magnetic on their own.
Is it in a sealed container or just a plastic bag that they come in?
A cardboard box is used to ship the 5 pound bundles. The 10 pound bundles are packaged in an airtight tube.

I just cut it to length. It's exactly what I needed for my beaded banner, and it fits the rod perfectly. All I had to do was cut it to the length I needed. I'll be able to make banners indefinitely with this case.
