Questions & Answers

Why is it that one unit costs 18 dollars while two units cost five times as much?

I'm not sure why they did it that way. To get around this blunder, I just placed a bunch of different single orders.

Is there a problem with MIG guns?

My welder comes with a MIG spool gun, but I've never used it. TIG is something I use quite frequently. My Miller spool gun would be a little too heavy or unwieldy for this, but it might be able to get the job done. The Mag- Mate allows me to hang my TIG torch in a variety of positions and ways, and the magnet is so powerful that it can even stick below the welding table and not fall off. To get it to move, you have to'muscle' it. That appeals to me. You should be able to bend or cut and reweld the prongs to suit your needs. I can imagine using two of them in tandem to compensate for the spool gun's weight by cantilevering the torch's barrel. Please accept my apologies for not being able to assist you further.

Has anyone tried this with a torch that burns oxy/acetylene?

It doesn't appear to be heavy enough to be used with an oxy/acetylene torch. It's not something I'd advise you to do.

I'm curious about the magnet's diameter. ?

Magnetic has a value of 2. 5 inches

Design and execution are both lacking
3/5

It was only because of the prime next-day delivery that I purchased it. br>It didn't get off to a good start. I discovered that a 5/32 hex (Allen) wrench was required during the assembly process. Probably because the screwdriver would interfere with the holder's angle going over the screw. (How about just a coin slot?) )br>The nut is a low-profile locking nut (nylon insert lock) that is too tall for the space, causing the base to rock slightly. br>br>I'm not pleased. I'd return it, but Amazon has made it illegal for us to do so. We've been having some problems recently and don't want to risk being kicked off. br>br>I'd look elsewhere for this stinger holder because they're plentiful and many are cheaper.

MAG- Mate
4/5

I decided to review this and add photos for other users because there were only a few pictures I could find. br>This is what came in the package. The batteries and sharpie are just for scale. br>It was a little bigger than I expected, but it appeared to be well-made and complete. br>When I ordered it, I thought it would be great to be able to support the hoses while I weld, but now I see that the hooks should have been on the opposite side so that the torch could be removed without going around the hose. br>It was probably not designed to support the hose while welding, but I've found that when I secure it, I don't have to fight the torch angles as much. Also, I'm a noob, so any assistance is greatly appreciated. br>I also had to buff the edges with a small buffing wheel, as another reviewer mentioned. br>thanksbr>br>sorry about the photos, amazon is uploading them sideways for some reason, they look fine on my PC and even if I rotate them they still come out sideways.

This is a great addition to a welding station
5/5

This is a great addition to a welding station. Even with your hood down, it's simple to set the torch on the stand. Even when the torch is placed on it in a haphazard manner, the stand keeps the torch secure. It can be used with both TIG and MIG torches. I don't think rough edges or a sloppy finish are a problem. I don't use mine with the foam pad because the magnetic base has a lot of gripping power. It takes effort to move the holder, and it does not walk around on its own or fall over due to the torch's weight. It works well in both horizontal and vertical orientations, as well as underhand. I discarded the included foam pad because it significantly reduces grip and is inconvenient to use. If you want to reduce the grip, tape the underside of the magnet with a single layer of tape. br>I recommend this product because it is well-made.

I would not purchase this item again
3/5

This piece has completely let me down. The final step. The holder's attachment to the base, as well as the back and forth rocking. The design, as well as the logo imprinted on the part. I'm not going to bother returning it, though, because it's only $15. I'm going to make my own torch holder now that I've seen everything I don't like about this one. It's exactly what I should've done from the start. We're all fabricators, after all. right? Why buy - what we can do to improve it It was a good lesson. Continue to create and stay safe!.

I'd say it's a reasonable price, and it's just fine
3/5

1) The edges are sharp; I assume it came straight from the waterjet cutter and into the box, as stated by a couple of other reviewers. It's something I can easily fix, but I wish the manufacturer had taken care of it. 2) If the pictures in the ad show the company logo being cut into the base, that would be fine. Because updating a listing's picture takes about 30 seconds, this is either a case of laziness or a deliberate attempt to deceive, neither of which is good for the company's image. br>br>The number of reviewers who commented on the nut making the base rock amuses me. The bottom of the button head bolt is inserted.

All it takes is for it to work
5/5

Do you need somewhere to store your stinger, tig torch, or MiG gun? Then this thing is ideal; you won't be able to fit all three on it at once, but it will suffice. I considered making something similar myself, but when I saw the price, I knew I had to take advantage of it. A word of warning: If you're just trying to bleed off any extra gas in the hose after MiG/TiG welding, don't use the torch; instead, use the trigger to purge the excess gas. I did, and it melted through the rubber on my MiG gun because I forgot it was grounded on my welding table. It's a good thing I didn't have my fingers there. Enjoy.

Holder for a TIG torch
5/5

I bought it a little more than two months ago. This TIG torch holder is fantastic. Normally, I just hang my TIG torch from the table's earth clamp. This torch holder is a fantastic idea, and it's even better that it comes with a magnet so you can mount it almost anywhere. I can't believe I've been without one for so long. I intend to purchase a few more for the store.

Design is functional and the tool is of good quality, but the finish is shoddy and parts are missing
3/5

THINGS TO BE THANKFUL FOR: This TIG holder is one of my favorites. It is held together by a strong magnet. On metal surfaces, the magnetic base has a firm grip. The layout is very practical. The various prongs can be used to hold the torch's cabling/hose, as well as your pedal or a remote switch. It is inexpensive, costing only $17. It's not an expensive accessory to add, and it keeps my torch from falling off the table very well. It has the appearance and feel of a high-quality cut. br>br>NEGATIVES: br>br>NEGATIVES: br>br>NEGATIVE I had to take two stars away at this point. To begin with, the holder's edge is jagged. It's more likely to cut into my TIG torch or hose than it is to cut into my hands. It appears that these are stamped-out pieces that haven't had much work done to them after they've been stamped out. The edges were smoothed out with a file. The second star is deducted because the holder was not fastened to the magnetic base with a bolt and nut. Because it's incomplete, I'll have to remove it. I read other reviews and noticed that this had happened before and that it might be a recurring problem. To connect them, I needed to go get some hardware. OVERALL: br>br> While the TIG torch holder's design, price, and utility appeal to me, the final finish and lack of hardware let it down.
