Or perhaps not so much. They aren't as appealing to me as I had hoped. The handle's curve helps a little, but it's awkward (if you're holding it in your left hand) to flip them over if you want to cut your wire short, and they don't work well on br>0. The 045 flux core wire does not cut all the way through, and they even struggle a little with the 0. I used 030 mig wire and didn't even try it on 0. I don't use 0 because I'm on a budget. I'm not sure if they'd work with 023 mig wire, but I think they'd be fine. On the plus side, the file edges on the inside and outside of the plier tips work wonders when it comes to cleaning slag and spatter from the nozzles. The diamond shape works well for cleaning and tightening the nozzle and tip.
Trimming welding wirebr>br> To break the 030 wire, I must bend it. I tried a variety of cutter positions, but nothing worked. br>br>Junk is a word that comes to mind when I hear the word "br>br>Junk.
These pliers have a terrible cutter. It's razor-sharp and likely long-lasting, but when closed, the two blades don't meet close enough. It doesn't even have the ability to snip. 030 solid wire is very easy to work with. To cut, I must twist and squeeze the pliers. I bought these to replace a pair of cheapos whose handle covers had come off. I'm going to keep using my old cheapos.
I like how the plier tips have file-like edges for quickly removing crud from a mig gun and removing small dents in the edge of a cup caused by *cough* tapping it against the table too hard. In comparison to the other choices on this page, it's also a good deal. br>br>My only criticism is that the handles appear to be of inferior quality. I shouldn't complain at this price point, but it's worth noting.
Fits comfortably in the hand, easily twists off MIG gun nozzles, and the wire cutting edge is extremely sharp and cuts wire quickly while taking a long time to dull. For under $15, the best welpers can be found.
Snips are dull and gapped, but they can cut an. 035 wire.
They are used on a daily basis in my welding shop. The handle design is appealing to me - Wearing thick gloves makes it easier to keep it secure.
Everything appears to be in working order. To use the file for its intended purpose, it must be solid and metal.
