Bronze clamp with a good deal of strength. It has a very stiff spring that grips the object tightly and refuses to let go. It performs admirably and has a nice bronzy, clampy appearance. It's bronze, as well.
It's very difficult to open this clamp. Before I bought it, I read the reviews and found that half of them said it was difficult and half said it was simple. I assumed that some of the reviewers had weak grips. Nope. To open this clamp, you'll need at least 50 pounds. I believe the manufacturer uses different springs when putting it together because it is far too difficult. It also only opens for about an inch before the spring is fully extended, making it impossible to clamp to pipe or other irregular shapes. The clamp is off center due to a crookedly drilled hinge. One advantage is that it's heavy enough that you can just lay it on flat work and get a good connection.
I bought this clamp to replace the stock ground clamp that came with my ESAB Rebel 215 and it worked perfectly. In terms of stiffness and weight, this is far superior. Other reviews stated that it was too difficult to open, which I did not find to be the case. It's built to last and won't come loose (unintentionally) from your workpiece or welding table. Because it doesn't have a crimp-on feature, I chose this clamp over others. The cable is attached in a style that is unique to you. It's just a set screw that can be easily replaced by backing it up. If I ever needed to replace another clamp, I would definitely buy this one again. This one is unlikely to need replacing any time soon.
This is absolutely incredible! You'll never have to replace it because it's well worth the money! This ensures a strong electrical connection to the ground!.
My welder came with a standard clamp, but I wanted something like this made of solid bronze. My machine can only handle 225A, but I chose this so that I wouldn't have to worry about overheating. There have been no problems, and I would purchase this product again.
First and foremost, disregard the complaints about how difficult it is to open and secure the clamp to the work. I can do it with one hand, and the purpose of a clamp is to keep things tight and secure, and this thing is HEAVY DUTY. When I'm welding, I never have to worry about it falling off my work, and it's a significant improvement over the cheap clamp that came with my inverter welder.
My ground has been giving me a hard time. When I first started welding, it was giving me a lot of trouble. This is something I discovered on Amazon, and it's fantastic!.
Most new welders come with a cheap welding clamp and a short grounding cable, so this is a worthwhile upgrade for the majority of welders. Right out of the box, you can tell this clamp is well made because it is heavy and strong.
