I should have paid attention to the reviews. This thing is a lot nastier than I anticipated. I believe you could get a similar clamping force by putting screws into a clothes pin. The ground strap is almost paper thin from one end to the other, and I'm guessing it's copper-coated aluminum. It's also clinging on by a thread. It'll probably snap off sooner rather than later, in my opinion. I didn't have a ring terminal small enough to fit it that would also fit onto my wire because the bolt holding the wire was so small, and believe me, I have a lot of ring terminals to choose from. So I had to drill the hole larger (to 1/4" because that was the largest size that would fit) and use my own bolt, which will get me by for now but will need to be replaced soon. I should have checked Harbor Freight first because they have a similar item for $8. However, for the same price as this one, you could get their "400 amp" clamp, which appears to be capable of handling it.
The story will be told more effectively if more people use it. It has a very tight clamping down, which keeps it from getting too hot. It should also have a clamp to keep the cable in place. It's only held together by the bolt, which bends the cable at the fitting every time you move it around.
Excellent substitute for a welding clamp. It feels cheap at first due to the thin metal, but it clamps well and provides a good connection. What matters is that the copper part that comes into contact with the welding piece is of high quality.
I gave it back to you. I didn't like getting a ground clamp that was designed for a 150 amp welder. Now I have to drive to the next city just to return it to a UPS location in the hopes of receiving a refund someday! This seller, RebootUSA, should be ashamed for switching clamps to a much less expensive model with inferior parts (copper). Make a profit on the items shown! Don't scrimp on the quality of your service!.
This clamp is only for light use. I wouldn't use it on a 200 amp welder, let alone the 300 amps it claims to be capable of.
For the price, it was a good buy.
The Lincoln clamp should be obtained. This is trash from the Dollar Store.
