Is it possible to use compressed air with these rods?

The slice rod cannot be used with a compressor. Pure oxygen from a bottle is the most likely candidate. Use the same oxygen as you would for an acetylene gas torch.

A frozen bucket main pin on an excavator that a 60-ton press couldn't remove. I did some research and discovered a method for removing the pin that involved using an exothermic torch to remove the pin's center and shrink the pin. After purchasing the torch, I began removing the 70mm 18! /2 in. pin with a 22-inch diameter Rod that generates heat. I couldn't get all the way through the pin from either end with the shield in place and the rod burning so quickly. I bought a 44-inch model. I used a rod and was able to burn a hole in the entire pin with ease. After finishing the hole and cooling the pin, it pushed out easily with the press (removing the pin required very little pressure). The 44-inch diameter Rod did a fantastic job with this problem. Please keep in mind that the shield (along with protective clothing and a mask) is required to avoid being burned by the molten metal blowing out of the pin while using the torch.
