The current type is the most significant distinction between 6010 and 6011. The 6010 filler rod is DC-only, whereas the 6011 can operate in both AC and DC modes. Both are quick freeze rods that perform admirably in overhead applications. They are "all position" rods, as indicated by the "1" in the third position.
The best is dcep, but dcen will weld with different characteristics.

I was interested in trying these as a hobbyist welder. The majority of youtube videos are about 6010/11, 6013, or 7018. I recently discovered a video on 7014 that I was not aware of (hey, I'm a home hobbyist welder!). ), and I figured I'd be able to tell the difference. br>br>Previously, 7018 was the most convenient for me to run, but this has supplanted it. The arc is very forgiving, and there is very little spatter. Slag can also be easily removed. On my Lincoln AC 225, I was able to run them at 60 amps.
I'm not a professional welder, but in my previous job (ag equipment repair), I did a lot of welding. Years later, I wanted a home welder but couldn't justify spending the money on a high-quality model. I found a cheap offshore import with rods for a reasonable price. I struggled with those rods for a long time, assuming I was simply out of practice, but then I ordered these rods and BAM! My welds aren't as bad as they used to be. I never realized how bad cheap rods could be until I started using them instead of shop rods. It was a good lesson.
I've bought these rods before, when they came in an orange package, and they were great. They're now packaged in a green package and aren't the same product; the flux isn't the same, it doesn't come off easily, and the weld has holes all over it. There was no difference when I tried to dry them. When I contacted Fourney, they stated that all they had done was change the package. They are not to be trusted. The grey flux in the orange box was replaced by a brown flux in the green box. They're also filthy.
They perform admirably when used with an AC welder. They were still in good condition because the box was dated September 2016. There were no chips in the flux on any of the rods. The tips were nicely rounded, the striking was clean, there was minimal sticking, and the drag was minimal. These are excellent for 1/8" steel fabricated hobby work. I'm not a pro welder by any means, but when it comes to AC, I can't tell the difference between Lincoln and Hobart 7014 rods. br>br>For the plastic container, I deducted a star. Airtightness is a problem because the material is too thin. These will most likely be placed in a better rod holder.
Rods weighing 2 lbs. The rods had gotten wet, which was the worst part. I purchased these because I needed them the next day and the nearest welding shop was more than 50 miles away. I'm putting them in the oven because I don't think I'll be able to finish this job. This was a huge disappointment.
This is a great size rod for welders that run on 120v. Both ac and dc machines work well with this product. Steel is a type that can be used in any position. It's simple to slag chios, but it usually falls off by itself. It is not necessary to pre-heat the product. I would purchase it again and recommend it to others.
After a lot of trial and error, I discovered that these work pretty well for 14g galvanized tubing at or - With a dc stick welder, you can get 80 amps on 110 volts. Approx. So far, this box has yielded 80 2 1/2 " beads. It appears that I will have enough materials to complete this structure, but I will purchase additional materials if necessary.
The rods inside were severely discolored from being wet or sitting around for years when I received the package, which was open. I'm going to return it and get my money back. Other 7014s were purchased from a hardware store, as shown in the photo. On the right, there's a new 7014.
