It's what I use with one of our Miller MIG welders. No problems with the 035 wire. Because of the point, I don't think this can handle more than a few hundred amps, but it does the job where a standard clamp can't.

It's likely that this item was designed for very light welding work. It came in about 7 or 8 pieces that needed to be put together. I just put it on the shelf and forgot about it. It's just a gimmick to get your money, but it might last a half-dozen welding jobs before it burns out or falls apart.
I got two, both of which were plastic-wrapped. When the door was opened, one noticed a discoloration on the copper stud for the work piece, which looked like an electrical arc. Then I noticed the washer and nut assembly markings, which were identical to the other kit except for the color stud, which was clean. They were assembled (possibly a returned item) and then disassembled before being placed in shallow plastic boxes. One of them was called upon once more.
To connect to the ground, I cut a 6 inch copper cable. It's fantastic!.
The magnet is strong and easy to use. I was worried that the contact point wasn't large enough. However, it is a very solid foundation.
As a result, the connection is more stable. I kept the clamp for situations where the new unit wouldn't work, and I used the magnet on the old clamp when it was needed.
I like it.
The good quality didn't work with my Lincoln welder ground, but that's something that can be fixed.
