IC extractors such as this are known as spring assisted extractors. There is no such thing as that. Despite the lack of a spring on this device, I'm sure I can make it work, but that's not made a mistake by purchasing this product with an incorrect description, so I got something that I did not want. Had I known that this device was not a spring-assisted device, I probably would not have bought it. The brand and model of this table are not the same, even though it looks similar. Returning this item to Amazon is my plan.
In the sense that it pulls chips from sockets, this chip puller is fine. With this tool I don't need to bend the pins like I did with the pry tool I was using. There isn't a spring in it, but it's not spring-loaded. It may seem like a tiny detail, but the one I have at work has a spring loaded handle and I find it When the gap between the tool and the chip is smaller than the chip, it is difficult to reopen it. You simply relax your grip when using a spring loaded model. If you have the extra $1, I recommend you spend it. Make your own for about 50 cents and add a spring to it. You can see them on the metal parts of the tool by looking for a little wire spring.
This method works for removing the majority of ICs. A main chip from an Arduino UNO can be removed using this tool. It is quite effective at doing this. In addition to the nice price, it is also reasonable. Since I can expect to lose one of them at some point, I bought 3 of them.
Exactly what the job requires. Access to the chip and pulling it out through smaller ends.
It works well.
I like it a lot. In order to extract the plcc44 chips, I bought this. I am able to get it into some sockets with some wiggling, although it does take some time. I am better off with this than the bent paperclip and pliers I was previously.
Everything about it seems to be OK. It looks like the package shipped from Hong Kong but it still arrived in a week or so, so that worked out just fine for me. The packaging suggests it was shipped from Hong Kong, but it just arrived in a week or two, which is remarkable.
