The last cable guy put a terminator lock on the cable junction box so I needed access to Its removal would have been easy if I had the tool, however, it didn't work that way. The tool clicked into place when I placed it inside, but when I turned it I saw that the metal shaft of the tool had separated from the glue inside the Right now, the shaft has just freed itself This part spins inside the handle and has no practical use. When I tried to supplement the handle with a couple of channel locks, the little teeth in the lock began to stick out of the holes and I couldn't grip the handle. This tool is not high quality by any means, I strongly recommend you use a product from another company since it cannot handle the torque required to remove a terminator lock. After all is said and done, I have a broken tool, sore hands and no better off than when I began. As a result, I am surprised it is a Jonard product, they used to be a good brand and I specifically paid for this brand to ensure I would not have issues with it.
I went through the process myself rather than having to wait for a technician to show up to remove the stupid terminator. As a result, everyone is slower and service will be disrupted.
". For the case of the cable guy not returning, I purchased this tool and kept it on standby I wanted the wire exactly as I wanted it. If he didn't do what I wanted, I knew I could fix what he did as soon as he pulled out the terminator tool. The match was a dead heat. My next step was to take out the unused jumpers and splitters that he had left in the box after he had left. I think the tool worked very well in the end. The insertions are slated to last for a few dozen or more insertions, at least. I don't know if I will ever need to use it again. It is a fair price for a "standby tool. ".
As a ladder climber, I prefer to use one hand only and avoid using two. Throughout the years, I've had problems with many other Jonard tools. Their toner actually wore out after a month, and their wrenches are bulky and noisy. In spite of the brand's reputation in the field as one of the highest quality, I no longer use their products.
In the same way as other tools made by this manufacturer, this one Only one complaint is that the piece that moves in and out of the tubes and the "wings" that retract seem to stick a lot. No improvement was made by lubrication. This, however, does not take away from the utility of the instrument. An installation technician for Time Warner/Spectrum installed it on a lock on the demarc at my residence (which I own*).
When I'm on a pole or at an MDU, I always have a spare cable because the price is good enough for me to buy two or three at a time. In the field, neither pair has broken yet, but as I noted before, for the price, I have a spare set.
I've broken a couple terminator tools that are very similar and cost less than a dollar. This one differs from the rest in that the shaft does not distort when driving at Cheapos typically last a week or two, but there are always a few terminators that someone wrenches on and they bend to the point that the fins will not pop back out. Despite the fact that the same level of abuse has been going on for two months now, this man is still going strong. This is a great tool that is up to par with all the others from Jonards!.
In the long run, I think it's a good buy because it's made of good quality materials and works well for what I need it for.
