As soon as I saw that, I was stunned. I love these pictures because they're so funny
A high setting is OFF. A low setting is ON.
I agree with Yes and No, but I'd more say No because it depends on precisely what you make. In this case there are two issues. The first is that you probably won't get enough heat transfer because with larger parts the metal will act as This is not so much because you need to heat a larger area, but because the metal you are soldering will suck the heat away, and by the time you get where you want to solder hot enough the whole surface will be hot. Additionally, we have to keep in mind that this will only work for soft solders at low temperatures. If the metal is brass, copper, pewter, etc., that will work, but for gold, silver, and platinum, it will be problematic or impossible. It's not best for me to go for a torch because of the steep learning curve and possibility of ruining things as I go through it. It will help, though, if you have a higher wattage iron. The iron will not be hot enough to melt some of those solders if you're going to do a lot with traditional jewelry metals. You may need to invest in a small torch and practice because some of those solders just won't budge.
It is 63(tin) that is "good stuff" for electronics There is no doubt about it, the 37 (lead) rosin core solder is the easiest to use, 60-70 has the same benefits, This kit includes a 40 rosin core and it is perfectly acceptable. If you don't have a professional solder station, using lead free solder is going to be a nightmare. Lead free solder requires A LOT more heat, perhaps more than this iron is able to supply unless you are connecting thin wires. Lead is not the smoke that you see it is the flux of rosin (flux) from the rosin core. If you were in a reasonably well ventilated room, it is likely that you would not be able to breathe any detectable lead particles not drinking enough water would pose the greatest risk. As long as you wash your hands, you will be fine even if you solder a lot. This wouldn't be a problem unless of course you disposed of it close to a water source, in which case it would be dangerous to consume.

It is significant value for the cost. I have been using a garbage tier 15 watt soldering iron for more than 10 years because I convinced myself it wasn't worth it to spend the $100+ on When I saw all the good reviews for this kit and saw the price, my jaw dropped, so I bought it. Originally I bought this to fix my oven, which had a shoddy bottom bake element that left it intermittently working, but I also thought I would use it to fix my dead graphics card as well. Both repairs turned out to be successful, and this iron has already saved me After only one week of owning this kit, I've already been able to pay for it five times over. I like how it heats up fast and how the tips are nice. I also like that the solder included is functional. In the hands of someone who knows what they're doing, I have no doubt that this little iron could match the power of a $100+ model. As far as I know I haven't needed to use the desoldering pump, but I did try it because it seemed gimmicky/cheap and I thought it wouldn't In reality, it does exactly what it's advertised to do, sucking up the solder right off of the board. No matter how much or how little you know about soldering, or if you've been doing it for years, this is a great kit to start with, and a great backup kit to have. There is literally no reason not to buy this kit if you work with electronics.
There is a temperature adjustment, however, and it puts out enough heat for tinning 16 gauge stranded copper wire - I did not measure it to see how much less it was). Using the 350 setting and rosin was enough to heat up the pool pretty easily There was no resistance when the core solder is sprayed onto the wire**The finger stripper included works well for soft-core wires A lamp cord insulation is soft and pliable. I haven't tried it on the hard NM house wiring insulation. I only have one negative comment While the tip of the soldering iron is sticking out far from the small end, the metal stand is able to hold it all the way in. By normal standards, the handle stops at the coil opening, with the tip protected from the air inside. In response to another reviewer, I would mount the base to a board if I were going to be using it much. There was no stripping of threads when installing the stand either - no issues with the stand sticking to the desktop. The nuts tightened up quite well and there was plenty of thread left to adjust them to a position that did not damage the bolts.
If it holds up, it makes great sense to spend the money As stated in the instructions, it should not be left on at high heat, but it's easy to turn it down when not in use. As a bonus, the other tips are nice bonuses that worked well for my purpose. As far as I know, I did not buy a Weller, and this model.
What the heck are you talking about? To get such a good deal on this set is incredible. As a parent I look like a grown-up lady with fancy tools and fancy toys (to fix broken wiring in my kids' Granted, I used to solder with a lighter and wire when I was younger and anything is better than those low-tech tools, but I still sincerely We had a little trouble removing the lid on the soldering wire, but now we are solderers! Whatever you need, we can handle it. There's no way you can beat this set for the price, especially for someone like me who is just starting out.
I hear my husband is complaining about his old soldering iron, which he uses occasionally to solder stuff. There was an incredible amount of stuff included and he was impressed with it all. There are several useful tips in this book, as well as a cool case. His old one did not have a stand and it would roll off the table. With this one, the stand is really convenient. As he tried to grab the old one, he burned himself a number of times. There's no need for him to worry about that anymore. Organizing it is such a great idea. The best purchase of the year.
There were a few that were better than this one but they cost more than $100. It is impossible to get anything even close to what you get in this kit for $15. Although the quality is above my expectation, I do recognize the difference between amateur and This kit is a great choice for occasional soldering, in my opinion. There are all the features you may need included (see what's If you solder only a couple of times in a month, I believe it will last a very long time. It is definitely recommended to everyone who does not need to solder 8 hours a.
For the price, this set is a great value. It includes almost everything you could ever want. As is, the stand comes with a sponge that doesn't fit the stand exactly. This can be solved with just a bit of trimming. Listed below are additional tips for the iron that heats up very fast For those who are into decorative soldering they are an excellent choice. (Hello there! Some people like to sign their work, don't you? Everything is.
00 and I found this one. The only issue I found was that the soldering iron from the kit takes a minute and a half to heat up compared to my Weller soldering station. Even so, my first choice would be the chiseled tips and I would switch to them immediately when I need them. I found the rest to be well built, the pump and tweezers worked as expected. The screwdriver and the meter Although the driver is decent for beginners, those are the first two things I'd upgrade to a more professional setup. This kit isn't too bad for the price if you need to use it on the field or if you are just getting started!.
