It would probably take some considerable hand strength and at least 10 minutes per strap to screw that long screw into a stud by hand. In that case, you might as well not even have them if you're not going to attach them to studs and just in sheetrock. You can pull on the sheetrock so hard that you'll rip it out and the whole thing will collapse. If it were anchored in sheetrock, it would still be questionable so just go for the studs. The stickers for the velcro don't have to be placed in the center. The straps are about a foot long and you are able to customize where they go. A little precaution is better than a lot of regret. A purchase such as this won't be regrettable if you have kids or live in an earthquake prone area.
