I have never seen a Genie before but the products they make do make good equipment for what I will use it for. The vestil lift is very good and it works fine for the job we have it doing mostly lifting products

It would not be possible to boggle the front wheels. A hard floor (concrete or wood) is needed for the underside of the wheels which are about 2 inches in diameter.

With this lift, you can only lift it to 8 feet before you have to flip it The product would have received 5 stars from me, but for me, it won't be the perfect solution to the storage problem in my garage or attic. Although the product details indicate that the forks can be flipped upside down to reach 117 inches, that only applies when the forks are upright. 96 inches (8') is the height from the top of the forks to the top of the normal placement (forks down). My attic door needs to be able to be reached and cleared by the forks lifted to 105". While this unit will allow me to reach the desired height, I will not be able to place heavy items from the ground. Forks will need to be lifted so I can place the items on them. It will be impossible for me to do this alone. Vistil told me that if I were to return the unit, I would have to pay a 20% restocking fee, even if I bought the unit that lifted to the height thing, the deck platform cannot be used while the forks are upside down if you purchased the optional deck platform. Likewise, the forks tilt slightly down to the front when the fork is turned.

The ladder is too high for me to use for lowering items from shelves that I can no longer handle with just a ladder as my aging body is limiting my mobility. The shipping cost only 100 dollars which is a great deal compared to what Global and some of the others were charging at the time. And, the unit price was the same. A long narrow skid with 2 other small boxes strapped to it held the boxes when it arrived. Several cotter posts were used to attach the legs to the stabilizers and the forks. The stabilizer legs were slid on and then pinned, and the fork legs were slid onto 2 horizontal rods and then tacked into In the final step of assembly, a retaining screw is undone, then the winch handle is attached and the screw is reapplied. There is no easier way to assemble this product. Even though the unit is light, it seems to be really solid. My injured shoulder does not allow me to lift heavy garage tools and boxes, so I place all my heavy objects on 24"x36" pallets I make from scrap wood. They are then placed on a shelf when not in use. In the event that you have any spare cash lying around and have ever hurt your back or shoulder, I highly recommend making yourself a little baby pallet rack and storing your gear on there with one.
It seems that Vestil designed the lift very well, but the underside of the forks do not allow straight picks when turned around. To obtain full extension capabilities, the blocking has to be modified or the spacing at the forks has to be increased to allow for headroom when in standard.
Using the lift is great, because I am able to do my work on my own and lift the unit into position in a safe and efficient manner as opposed to buying muscle power. I use it once a week, and my work is completed without the need to use muscle power.
I appreciate its ability to do everything I would like it to, making lifting much more user-friendly.
