These heavy duty drum lifters have different clamps than the last pair I had, but they work both easily and very well on plastic and metal 55 gallon drums full of antifreeze and oil. Initially, the clamps tried to slide on me while lifting a steel drum but once they bit into it they didn't move. You have to keep them as far apart as possible from each other as they tried to slide on me as I lifted the drum.

This item is well made and excellent for lifting open top drums. I purchased it to use a crane to lift drums full of metal chips. Although some barrels are not round due to handling at the scrap yard, these clamps fit nicely on them even if they are not round. Their ease of use and stability make them a great choice. I really like the design of the product, and it installs in just a few seconds.
