Years ago, we had it. Over a long period of time Shackles painted with a smile made me laugh. So I went to the local hardware store and bought a handful One of mine fell in the snow and was lost. One of them disappeared in the grass when I put it down. A second one was buried in the sand and vanished. In the same way, etc. Now that I have one left, I have to choose. reinvesting in one or two of these things every year is becoming a significant expenditure. Please accept my apologies to all the manufacturers of brightly colored chains. It was a good idea that I missed because I was too dumb to see it. far, I have not lost You can see them much easier on the ground, in the snow, and if they're just sitting in the car. I am very pleased with the quality of these shackles. The coating is far superior to most other shackles I've seen, and even after several thousand miles of winter driving, the finish still looks just as good as Within the next couple of days, I will purchase half a dozen more.
I give them 5 stars for developing a more reliable USA product of proven quality. The cost of this item is greater, but it is still affordable to most people who want it. It has a burr on the threaded hole edge that I filed off with my file, and the paint job is so bad that I would go for a unit painted without paint and spray painted brightly with some leftover bright paint I have lying around. I consider it fair to deduct one star for the burr and the paint even though I don't really care about them for my needs. You can go with galvanized steel that is unpainted if corrosion is a concern, and you can paint the non-China steel yourself if you need some color.
Despite good quality, fit, and finish, it does not appear as attractive as the first impressions. I will have them stripped and repainted locally after they arrive with numerous large chips in the powder coating. The color of the dress appears to be a shade or two darker than it actually is. This could also be due to my eyes similar to what color is this dress. I have no worries about these pulling my Tacoma out of anything I put it in. They are heavy duty so I have no doubt about them getting stuck. I will let you know if I encounter any issues. I used Horizon Supply Company for my supply needs. This is a beast. Update 3/29/19 These things are beasts. The treads have retained their shape after being immersed in salt water, crossing rivers, hiking on rocky trails, and even being run over when one fell off (user error/ use a screw driver to tighten down when in a rough terrain). Highly.
5 out of 5 for build quality. I purchased these gears even though I know they are too much for recovery. When I bought it, I was only thinking about the red color because it matched what I had on my PC. A complete waste of time and money, pain coating is chipped off and beat up. A Crosby is a great shackle if you want a good quality one, but please make sure they are zinc plated. You should not buy this if you are looking for something "pretty" to hang from your bumper. There is no doubt that this will rust and you will eventually have to cut it Buy aluminum ones instead of steel ones and you'll save yourself a lot of hassle. Those items will be placed in a bag of recovery gear in an insulated bag out of the elements, to be used only for recovery purposes.
The product was well made and well priced, however, Crosby is known for high quality products. It's just a shame they were thrown into a bag and some of the red paint other reviews gave me the impression this would be the case. In this case, quality and safety were of utmost importance.
The product was made in the U. S. A. This product may seem rather expensive for a shackle, but one should not rely on "ratings" of shackles made elsewhere.
It is a good quality shackle made in the US, but the coating and paint are of poor quality. With a price tag of $33, I expect the paint to stay on. I already noticed that it was flaking off in the package before I had even opened it.
It is the standard to never try to save money. The life of your loved ones is at stake.
