I am amazed at how well this hoist works. I guess it seems slow at first, but consider that to get speed one will have to quintuple the price! All in all, it's a great product. It can be operated with one hand without any effort, the brake is perfect, and the price is reasonable. Although the cotter pins are rather flimsy and do not seem to 'know' where to land, it is a minuscule issue that would not likely cause interference with anything. (BTW, I've read several complaints about entangled chains. In perfect working condition, my hoist arrived).

The packaging on this Hoist was insufficient, but it arrived quickly. As soon as I got it, I was unable to use it. Because it was assembled incorrectly, the chain would bind immediately. The first of the three nuts holding the body together was not even affixed to It was also wedged in place by the Top Hook. According to this company, there are no quality control departments. The parts were all included, at least. My first experience with it was about two weeks ago, so I am not able to rate the durability just yet.

It performed well under tough conditions when I put it through its paces. I had some issues with the hook attachment (it seemed insufficient, but I overstressed it all the time without any issues). Upon receiving one I was surprised to see it was rated at one ton, when the description said two, but it's a pretty compact unit and I plan to keep.

Most of my crane work is handled with a gantry crane with a capacity of 2000 lbs Although I could have obtained a 2000# hoist for almost the same price, I upgraded to the Spectar 4000# hoist and gained additional capacities. Aside from the chain of 10 feet, another reason for my decision is that I am pleased with it. My product was delivered very quickly and worked perfectly right out of the box. The price is reasonable and the quality is good.
