A magnetized tool only holds the tip of the tool, not the sides, so the magnetized end holds the tool. It holds a hammer, as I tested it.

I would say 85 magnet is a piece of junk! The magnet looks like something you'd get at the dollar store! Definitely not something you'd want to keep. As for the magnet, it is no stronger than a cheap magnet you might find on some dime-store gadget- To hold up your children's schoolwork accomplishments, you would hang a bob on the fridge! This is junk! RDunkin'* * *.
An Alnico bar magnet with north and south pole markings that are molded into their respective ends, this one is a fairly hardy magnet. There is nothing fancy about this bar, it is just plain bare metal. A great size and shape to play with or use for basic experiments in physics. This is a worthwhile purchase.
A magnet was needed for the science fair, and we ordered one to suit the occasion. The kids will love it. It is strong enough for science experiments and a reasonable size and shape to play with.
I find that it is of great use for our project. I was not expecting it to be so useful.
I like it.
My appreciation goes out to you.
There is not much magnetic force generated by this magnet as stated by other reviews. The weight on it is too great for it to hold. I would strongly advise Amazon to stop selling this product because it is so bad, it does not qualify as a novelty. To me, its only purpose is to serve as a paperweight or a bin for small metal fragments and fasteners that I have found at the bottom of my toolbox. Apex magnets are the REAL deal for magnets that will last. This is NOT a product you should buy.
This is an order for an educational program for children. My needs were met just right.
