Questions & Answers

What kind of check valve is built into the device?

The check valve on mine sometimes works but sometimes it just runs continuously. When I have taken it apart and cleaned it, it still randomly runs. I have to take out the power cord before it turns on.

My plan is to drain it to about 15 feet away and connect it to our dehumidifier. Is it possible for it to go horizontally first, Would you mind telling me how tall (about 3 feet) is?

It is absolutely true. You have an installation with a total "head" of only 3 feet, which is greatly less than the rated 15 feet It is approximately 20 feet in length. I don't see any problems.

The tubes for all these pumps are 3/8" in diameter. The run I have is 40' Up to 5' in height). If the drain line was made of PVC it may be easier to keep it straight (no sagging). Are you thinking?

While a 40-foot run is a lot, the rise is just 3 1/2' so you shouldn't run into any problems. My professional knowledge is limited, but I think this pump will work well as long as you follow the 3/8" size instructions.

What type of safety switch does this pump have?

The topic was well covered by Andrew Bauer. Nonetheless, you must maintain the pump according to the manufacturer's instructions or else the safety switch may not work when you need it. It was my fault that I did not know about the maintenance requirement (thanks, installers). So my 18 year old pump did not send water out of the A/C and I ended up with water everywhere. During the one time in 18 years I used the safety switch, it did not Keep an eye on your calendar and schedule pump maintenance.

Make sure your check valve remains intact! It was 18 years since I purchased my last one and I bought this one to replace it
3/5

In common with many others, the check valve does not function at all. It is not uncommon for some or all of the water to drain back into the pipe On the other hand, the check valve works just fine in other instances. My old check valve always worked, but I accidentally threw it out when I installed It is unclear to me why Little Giant uses valves as a policy, other writers have written. Although you have skill enough to install and remove the pump for warranty purposes, you do not have the skill to use an open-ended pump How is it that you have to return the entire unit if you have to remove and replace the dead check valve with the end wrench? Because I need the air conditioner to work and I can't spend a few weeks emptying buckets by hand for Little Giant to figure out my warranty, I'm forced to buy a new valve (plus I'll save money on The only option is to either invest in a new valve or live with random gurgles (which I am doing now). Winter is the best time for my valve to be delivered). So they decided to stonewall their customers and only test/inspect the individual valves they sell in order to make a few extra dollars. This replacement pump did its job and fit and function as planned and got five stars overall. One star was awarded to the check valve. I give this item three I will do so Keep an old check valve if it is still working in case the new one is junk.

It's a terrible idea to use floating switches- A failure WILL occur within the first year I have been doing that for two The brand seems to be dominant on the market for condensate pumps
3/5

There's no problem with the pumping mechanism, but so far, we've had 3 of them fail within the last 2 years due to the float switch stopping working (and subsequent minor flooding before we noticed). Several months after purchase, we acquired a replacement that had a faulty float switch. The new one arrived new in the original packaging. I don't know why it's so hard to make a switch that will last- It would be better to buy another brand if there was an alternative, as these are of very low quality and are of.

The switch failed several times and the inside of the housing was heavily corroded after 12 months of use A new product would not be offered by the company! It has been 13 months since I bought this pump
3/5

Approximately 10 months after the switch was installed, it began to fail intermittently. (Along with extensive water damage due to the leak) I removed the pump after 13 months. Almost every part of the pump was heavily corrosion. Please see the attached images. After contacting the Little Giant customer service department, they were quick to point out that the warranty period was up. No matter how bad the pump looks and how clearly defective it is, they have not changed their minds. As a conclusion I do not recommend you buy this product if you expect it to function beyond the 12 months specified in its You should return it/replace it at the first sign of corrosion or switch failure.

The pump is very good
4/5

As a result, I ordered this as an exact replacement for a condensate pump that had failed. A strange noise came from the old one (this was when the old one was making weird noise). I received the new condensate pump a couple of days ago. installed it, and it works fine, but it makes a similar sound to the one I had previously. Fortunately, it's in the basement and away from the main living area, so it's not a big deal. I received the new pump in its original box, with no overpacking, and there was no damage or loss during shipping. In any case, the two plastic clips that hold the top cover on were broken when it arrived. But it didn't seem to be affecting the operation of the pump, so I just installed it like it was. I will post again in case there are any other problems.

As far as the manufacturer is concerned, this item is defective
3/5

A fine pumping action can be felt, and the operation is relatively In addition, the check valve does not work properly and the manufacturer knows it to be defective. Water drains back down into the reservoir from a height of no more than six feet, at a rate of about one inch per fifteen In addition to using extra energy, this check valve failure causes the pump to run more frequently. Having written to the manufacturer's tech support, the representative responded that the check valve does not use a spring loaded check valve with a rubber seal, but a floating ball. From his description of what a workable design is, it is clear that he knew the design was not a workable one. As far as he was concerned, In light of the fact that a pump is rated for 20 vertical feet, but I am only at a third of that distance, it is clearly A check valve I can use will be found and I will make changes to I find it so unfortunate that a product that is known to be defective is now being sold by the manufacturer despite that fact. People would very likely not notice the defect and just pay for faster failure and higher energy bills due to an early failure. It was my last time to purchase A good product used to be sold by them.

It's easier to replace a damaged screen than to clean an It would have been nice to have purchased anyway, I found the unit on Amazon that is a direct replacement and bought it, it took me about 3 minutes to install My water filter only took 5 minutes to hook up, and I filled it several times with tap water to make sure it hasn't built up any mineral deposits, then set it aside In addition to the HVAC unit, there is a large dehumidifier that drains into the pump
5/5

So it does both, and it doesn't miss a beat since I plugged it in.

Perfect for my needs
5/5

This Little Giant was bought to complement my Frigidaire 70 pint dehumidifier (which I highly The basement was a place where I didn't have any interest in going more often than once every I really like this pump! The pump is strong enough to pump water up to the eight-foot ceiling in my basement laundry room, and it is able to go an additional ten feet to the drain. You should definitely check it out!.

Easier to install than you think
4/5

There were two different furnaces where I had them. of them has lasted at least a dozen years and is still functional. After six years, the other had given up on him. In their instructions, the instructions say you should clean them when you change the air filter, but I used them without cleaning them (they might last longer). They seem to be a reliable resource for what they are. In the case of a flood, you need a water alarm in a tray with them, so you will know if they die before things get bad. I found that approach to be helpful.
