Yes. Air, water, and other contaminants are kept out of the house by rubber seals. Bugs should be avoided. I've seen bug eggs in ziplocked bags of flour, so if you don't use O2 absorbers, you might end up with a bucket crawling with little bugs. Small bags can also be frozen to prevent them from hatching.
I put 20 pellets in there, and there's still room for a few more.
Something made out of stainless steel. These buckets aren't bear or bullet proof, but they get the job done. They'll suffice for my 99-day kit with a few O2 absorbers.

”. The buckets were delivered in a timely manner.
- Snapping the lids into place is a challenge! One reviewer suggests stamping on the bucket while it is upside down! I'm 200 pounds, and they finally fit. I think. I say "think" because the white bucket arrived fully assembled and is 3/8 of an inch taller than the two I put together. Hum? I was afraid I'd crumple the bucket if I stomped hard enough. The number "22" was written on the side of the white bucket, which caught my attention. The number "20" is written on the red and blue buckets (observe closely). I'm not sure I agree with the snap-back theory. The threaded lids work well and seal the buckets, even though the snap lids are fully snapped in. I think. I'm going to put some grain and dehumidifier tabs in for a while, then I'll check the desiccant color and update this evaluation.
- FYI: After I placed my order, I noticed the disclaimer that said "not recommended for long-term storage. " " In the buckets, I plan to put grain in Mylar bags with desiccant and antioxidant packages. I agree that plastic containers are inadvisable for long-term food storage in general. Rodents have chewed right through a thick plastic outdoor gardening bin in search of birdseed! If the pails are kept in a larger mouse and rat-proof container, however, the mice and rats will be less likely to eat them. They should be fine in a weather-proof container or structure.
During stock-up sales, I purchased the first longer-term storage of perishables. I can now fill it with ramen, pasta, or whatever else I find on sale and store it for a while without fear of critters or moisture. They stack nicely, and the color coding helps me figure out which bucket I need. My purchase was extremely satisfying.
I'm very pleased with the food-grade lids on these buckets. I used to keep my flour in a few different containers, which took up a lot of room. The pantry, to be precise. These are perfect for holding my bulk flour purchases and stacking in the pantry. It's very useful.
By pressing the ring that the lid screws to on top of the bucket wall, two of the three buckets can be put together. Because it's made of industrial-grade materials, you won't be able to take it apart once it's been put together. Unfortunately, when I discarded the packaging, I discovered that there was still a loose sealing ring inside! Now I'm not sure which bucket is missing it. I called the customer service number listed on the packaging and left a message, making sure to repeat my phone number. Well - THERE HAS BEEN NO REACTION. This isn't cool; the buckets are exorbitantly priced, and two of the three are no longer useful to me.
These buckets are quite nice. The lids appear to be well-fitting, but if you store your food in the buckets in mylar bags, the airtightness of the lid is less important. The seals on the buckets can be tricky to get on, but if you turn it upside down and stomp on it, it should snap right on. These buckets were pricier than what you'd find at your local home improvement store, but they were harder to come by and I liked the colors.
The lids didn't fit perfectly because they were shipped during hot weather and slightly warped, so I doubt the airtight lid. It wasn't a big deal to me, but I'm not sure if the warped buckets were caused by the quality or the heat.
Simple to work with. These buckets and lids were exactly what I had hoped for. The only minor quibble is that the label on the inside of the lid left a sticky residue that took some effort to get rid of. However, it isn't a major issue. Buckets and lids appear to be extremely durable and user-friendly. I would buy it again.
These buckets are the ideal size, and the screw-on lid ensures that they are stored safely. They're fantastic! I want to give 5 STARS for amazing Customer Service, not only because I love the buckets and they help me be organized, but also because I used to own a small business and know what it's like to go out of your way to make up for a lost item. This was handled so professionally that there was no doubt whether they were truly lost, and I will keep this company in mind for future needs.
