Work should be avoided
3/5

They are not watertight or airtight, and they do not seal! I'm a homebrewer, and I bought these Gamma Seal lids for my beer-making buckets. When I first saw them, I thought they were a well-engineered, well-made product. br>br>But then things started to go downhill. br>br>I removed the first unit and inspected it before installing the lids. The seal was cut lengthwise, which I noticed. However, because it is longer, it is unlikely to harm the ability to seal. To see if it worked, I put the lid on the ring. I got it as tight as I could, but then I couldn't take the lid off! I had to work very hard to get the lid off because it was so jammed on. I tried the same thing with the second unit and got the same result: the lid was firmly in place. Both of them were removed eventually. br>br>After that, I put one on a bucket. According to the information available on the internet about these lids, proper installation is essential. I attached the ring to the bucket with a rubber mallet. It had been set up correctly. I figured that filling the bucket with a few liters of water and dish soap would be a good test of the seal, especially since I needed to clean it anyway. br>br>I slammed the lid shut, and the contents spilled! It was a STREAM of water, not just a few drops. It was coming from the area between the bucket and the ring, not from the bucket itself. The ring was perfectly sealed by the bucket. As a result, I tightened the lid even further. Even so, it got out. Not just a few drips this time, but a stream! So I tightened it up a little more, thinking it was too loose. AND IT CONTINUED TO LEAK. I realized something wasn't quite right, so I went to remove the lid. I STRESSED MY LEFT HAND SO MUCH THAT I DISLOCATED THE THUMB! My thumb popped back into place, which was a relief. And I'm a big guy with big hands, so it's not like I have tiny little weak hands. I had to use a rubber mallet to finally get the lid off! br>br>I went to remove the lid because I was annoyed that it didn't seal properly. A regular bucket lid wrench will not fit, and even my largest flat tip screwdriver was unable to remove it. This bucket is now ruined, which is a shame. To remove the ring from the bucket, I had to use a HACKSAW! br>br>As a result, I acquired the remaining two lids. Instead of RUINING another bucket, I decided to put them to the test on their own. Put the lid under the faucet after tightening the ring on the lid. BOTH WERE DISCOVERED TO BE LOST! And again, a STREAM of water came out of them, not just a little bit. br>br>All right, let's get started. the bottom line Because all three lids were leaking, I had to destroy a high-value item. quality bucket, and I dislocated my thumb, which continues to hurt. I can't say enough good things about these lids! Taking a look at the positive feedback, it appears that the product is a success I'm very dissatisfied with the outcome. These would have been returned if I hadn't had to CUT THE ONE OFF with a hacksaw. It was a complete waste of $32!.

It's difficult to get started, but it'll pay off in the end
5/5

These gamma seal lids are ideal for purchasing in bulk. Unless you have a rubber mallet or are extremely strong, getting them on is difficult at first. My husband had to work hard to get the lids on the buckets they were supposed to fit into. I expected them to crack or break, but they didn't, and he was able to put them on. They serve their purpose of providing an airtight seal for the food I buy in bulk once they've been installed. Purchasing the three-pack saves you money over purchasing them separately.

I've had multiple surgeries for tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome, so this is ideal for those who struggle with dexterity
5/5

As a result, my dexterity and strength in my hands were severely limited. I really like these lids. If you place your upper body weight on the base, it will snap into place. There's no need to use a mallet. The raised cross channels on the lid make turning the lid a breeze. They also airtighten your pail. There is nothing negative to say about the product or the seller.

These are excellent lids for converting buckets that would otherwise be discarded into ideal storage containers
5/5

Mine was used to store parrot food and dry cat food. It keeps bugs out, but the seal where the lid ring snaps on the bucket is probably not tight enough to be considered airtight.

When it comes to storing food that I need on a daily basis, this is a huge help
4/5

On previously purchased food-grade buckets full of flour, oats, and cat food, we installed gamma lids in place of standard tops. The lids were a breeze to put on. We didn't have to empty the buckets, and we only had to cover the foods with paper just in case, but it wasn't necessary. The installed gamma lids are very secure but very easy to open with one arthritic hand; the lid removes from the top completely except for an additional 1/2 inch coverage all around for the band, so I was able to use the same food grade scoops. We have an old metal pan lid holder on the wall next to the buckets where we can temporarily store the lids so they don't get dirty or scuffed. Tossing them around is a little too expensive. The same thing could be done with a bent clothes hanger.

Covers were needed to keep crushed corn cob and crushed walnut shells dry so that brass cases could be cleaned for reloading
5/5

These fulfilled all of my requirements. The only thing I'd add is that you'll need a rubber mallet to secure the bucket liner. To say the least, it's a tight fit, but once that's done, the lid simply screws on. If that helps, all three buckets I own are from Lowe's, and the liner fits perfectly. Tight. Excellent value for money, as well as a superior product.

Price was jacked up

The product is excellent. The amount I paid was absurd! In the midst of a pandemic, talk about price gouging!.

The task was completed exactly as described

I store honey bee syrup food with these kids. Outside, next to the bee hives, the buckets are kept. They are not airtight, in my experience. The buckets have been contaminated with water and ants. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> 2/19- When I took the gamma lid top off to refill a bucket after we started storing the buckets with gamma lids under a shelter, I noticed they all had cracks. What a let down!.
