THESE ARE UNUSABLE. THEY ARE ADVERTISED AS BEING IN FABRIC POUCHES, BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE. THEY ARE IN SEALED PLASTIC POUCHES, WHICH WILL NOT BREAK. I'm never going to be able to get a job. DAMPNESS CANNOT BE ABSORBED BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL SEALED SHUT.
Basically anything that isn't in a can in the cupboard. I'm surprised I didn't think of buying these sooner. I was constantly opening spice jars to discover a solid lump at the bottom, then running out to get more in the middle of meal preparation. If your spice jar isn't completely full, the 3 g size will fit inside (see photo). You can't afford not to use these to keep your expensive spices and other dry foods fresh, especially at this low price (less than a penny each).
In addition, instead of the breathable fabric bags shown, I received beads in plastic bags. I was skeptical of both the product and the critics, so I put it to the test. I put one pack in a sealed container with some water, making sure it didn't come into contact with the water. After 3- They begin to turn green after four days. Moisture can enter through tiny holes in the plastic. In this same experiment, poking holes in the plastic with a safety pin causes it to turn green in about one day, so they can be made to absorb more quickly if necessary. I docked a star for failing to deliver the product as promised, but I believe the plastic packs will suffice for the majority of people's needs. br>br>Another thing to keep in mind is that if the colored beads are submerged in water, they will turn purple and, as far as I can tell, they will not be able to be dried out. One of my packs has turned purple, and no matter what I try, it will not change.
I bought these to store shoes, but I've been using them for a lot more (in storage drawers, bags, wrapped in napkins and placed in opened bags of chips to keep them crunchy, and so on). They weren't in the plastic packets as shown, but in a non-plastic bag. Material that is woven and is breathable. Because some reviewers complained about the plastic, the manufacturers may have decided to change the packaging, but I purchased them knowing that they would be plastic. The seller claims that it has no effect on the product, and some reviewers agreed. Anyway, I gave some to my mother, who exclaimed that she had no idea these were available for purchase. Until now, I hadn't thought about it. I still have a lot of these, so they should last a while.
I bought these because I wanted to keep moisture out of the bags while making dog jerky and dog chicken wrapped sweet potatoes. I had mixed feelings after reading the reviews, but I decided to give it a shot because I liked the idea of the beads changing color from orange to black. It did, in fact, turn black. The only issue I'm having right now is trying to recharge them, but I made the mistake of using the regular setting instead of the defrost setting. I'll definitely purchase more when I run out. Another one was tried, and after 13 minutes of defrost, it did recharge.
I used to live in the desert, which is hot and dry, and I recently relocated to the United States Virgin Islands, which is hot and humid. THE TEMPERATURES ARE HEATED AND HUMID! So instead of throwing away those silica packets, I'm hoarding them now! The larger packets are in my vacuum-sealed linen bags, and the medium size is in my drawers! I like that I can dry them out in the microwave and reuse them!.
Because of the ostensible color indication, I purchased these. However, as you can see from the image, there is no indication of color at all. Despite the fact that it is now September 2020, I believe I was sent the 2019 version.
I chose the 2g 160 count silica packets that were "rechargeable. " They were in "breathable" plastic packages with colored beads that changed color depending on whether or not they were wet, according to the picture. I got the standard packaging that comes with products when they're trying to keep them dry. Throw Away Desiccant are simply white paper silica packets with the words "DO NOT EAT" on them. There are no colored beads in them, and I'm not sure if they can be dried out.
