Useless. Doesn't work the way it's supposed to. Company was not an issue for me. However, the light I purchased proved to be completely ineffective. I purchased it in order to conduct a survey of my fluorescent rock collection. It wouldn't work even if I held it 2 inches away. From now on, I'll be more cautious about what I buy.
There appear to be a lot of negative reviews for this item, claiming that it does not emit enough UV light and thus is useless for things like surveying rocks or other purposes. The product description makes it clear that it's designed for analyzing fluorescent backed TLC plates, which is exactly what I needed. The majority of the 256nm UV sources I found cost at least four times as much as this one. In comparison, this is a great deal that does exactly what it says it will. It even includes rechargeable batteries and a battery charger, as well as excellent instructions that include detailed pictures of the product and some sample TLC plates. Sure, a $500 UV light source would be brighter and more durable, but that's an outrageous price to pay. For the price, this is (so far) a fantastic product. br>I haven't had it for very long, so if it breaks soon, I'll come back and update this, but for now - It deservingly receives a perfect score of five stars.
Much more delicate; pay attention to the instructions that detail how to handle the light with care.
It does exactly what it says on the tin. You can't expect a shortwave UV lamp to be perfectly designed for the price you're paying. The battery compartment closes a little strangely, but it still works.
It's small, but when viewed up close, it's effective for minerals.
The product performed admirably and came with batteries and a charger.
Although it appears to be attractive, it is not particularly bright.
