I made the mistake of buying a universal kit from our local hardware store (just the tank). The repairman went to the hardware store to get a set of bowl bolts, but the leak didn't stop. My first impression when I opened this American Standard kit was that the washers were flexible rubber, whereas the universal kit had hard rubber washers for some reason. I didn't know it could do this, but it fixed the leak and I'm a happy flusher now! I have another little bonus for you Also, the bolts on this were too long and needed to be replaced. Using the universal kit, there were ridiculously long bolts that took a lot more time to install.
These are the odd sized American Standard tank bolts that no one seems to carry. There is an issue with the bolts included in box store kits. I have no idea why AS decided to use such a small odd-sized bolt. It's best to replace the tank with these if you do decide to drill out the holes in the tank. However, cracking the tank can occur if you do so. You can find these on Amazon, thanks to them.
It was a bit unclear for me if this would work with the 4094, but it appeared to be a good match. an American Standard part. So before I ordered I gave American Standard a call. I was put on hold for about 15 minutes as they looked for the part. The number they gave me was for another kit, which they are replacing at no cost to Due to the fact that the operator was not knowledgeable, I was skeptical of their advice. Actually this is the kit they are sending me, not the one they thought was the correct one. The 5500 series of tanks are likely to fit. Installation is quick and easy.
Among the few manufacturers using a 1/4" bolt, American Standard seems to be the only one. The 5/16" bolt readily available at large box stores is easily obtained at Invest in a package for the day when you discover an unexpected leak between the tank and the.
I had a slow leak with this toilet so I decided not only to change the rubber gasket but to also replace the guts. I had no idea that all toilet bolts are not the same size and that American Standard is among the few brands that use My search for the part number was fruitless after going to 3 stores and a plumbing specialty store to find it. So I found it on Amazon, thanks to the number on the inside of the tank lid. This is the perfect.
This is what you need if you have an American Standard toilet tank that needs a 1/4" bolt from tank to bowl. At stores like Home Depot, tanks to bowl kits are only offered in 5/16 sizes. With the washers from the 5/16 bolt kits, I have tried to use 1/4 bolts from the hardware section, but there is always a leak. Why American Standard uses 1/4 bolts rather than 5/16 bolts is not clear to me. Thank you so much for carrying it on Amazon.
The price was right for an American Standard part. However, it does not mention that the listing is for one of two sizes. The toilet in my bathroom was an American Standard, so I assumed that was good enough. It is however a new 3in design, and this is for older models with the old style 2in Upon returning the item, I reordered the correct size from an alternative generic brand. It turned out that when it arrived, the hardware was of such higher quality than this name brand item, which made me feel even more disappointed.
Fix it by using this. I was able to secure the item I needed to stop the leak caused by the toilet flushing while holding the item. I realize it should be implied, but I am sure that the new donut is going to be thicker than your old one, after having to tighten the bolts a lot in order to get the tank to rest correctly on the bowl. It is quite simple if you have never done it before, but you will have to prepare your work area as the old parts may stain your hands and anything they touch. A plumbing leak usually occurs for a reason, and the old parts are in the process of breaking down. You also need to be careful because not all tanks drain all their water.
