So, yes, I'm doing a toilet cleaner review. It's strange to say, but these things are fantastic *IF* you can get them on properly. You rip off the little plastic that keeps the goo from spilling all over the place, choose your location, press the plunger, and BAM! Everything has been completed! If you're my husband or the lovely lady who cleaned my apartment one day, this could turn into a rocket science situation, and they'll summon you while you're reading a good book, because they squandered three of them.
I used to keep bleach pucks in the water tank because they kept nasty growth from forming in the bowl, but these pucks are known to harm tank components, and boy do they. br>br>So I decided to go with an in-house solution. These click-to-clean bowls are a good example of what you can do. Unfortunately, unlike the bleach pucks, it does not keep the bowl clean. All they seem to do is make your house smell nice for about a week. After that, you'll have a glob of gel in your bowl for several weeks that doesn't smell good and doesn't appear to prevent buildup, so why bother? br>br>For the sake of the good smell, I'll keep using my current purchase until it runs out. But after that, I'll have to find something else that, hopefully, will work better in terms of keeping things clean.
We left it on for two days before scraping it off because the odor was giving me a headache from across the apartment. We won't be able to use the remainder of the package, which I hate to waste. br>br>On the plus side, it's simple to apply and appears to last a long time; perhaps one of the other scents is more tolerable.
Unlike a competing product, these small click gels do not require a large applicator to be used from refill to refill; instead, you simply open each package, peel off the silver tape, and place it against the side of the toilet bowl where the refilling water will run over it. Obviously, the bowl should be clean before applying one of these, so scrub it after the last one has dissolved and vanished, apply it, and your bowl will remain clean and fresh. I always keep the toilet lids down to keep curious or daring pets out, because this is something you definitely don't want a pet to ingest. br>br>I'd say they last for about a week before I notice they've vanished. However, it appears that this is appropriate for the use of the toilets in my home.
After seeing them somewhere else, I decided to give them a try. The scent is extremely strong and can be detected throughout the bathroom for several weeks (sensitive noses beware). This surprised me a little, but I'm glad they have so much power! They were of assistance for the in-house project. They cleaned in between cleanings, but not to the extent that I had hoped. I deducted a star because they did not assist as much with the cleaning as I had hoped.
I thought they were being overly sensitive or dramatic when I read about someone else having to scrape this off before second flush, but they were correct. The stench was so bad that I scraped it off the two toilets where I had used it before flushing again (and the stench lingered for days). I'll return to the one that has the applicator. It would be night to have the single-use applicator if the smell wasn't so bad, but it was.
For the scent stated on the box, it is nothing like you'd expect. This is something I would never buy again. I'm returning the rest of my unopened packages to Amazon for a refund. Because I just put one in my toilet this morning, I can't tell you how it works. At this point, I'm going to give it a one-star rating.
These tiny gels get the job done. Before you apply, make sure your toilet is clean. They'll keep your bowl fresh and clean for about a week, depending on how much you use it, after which you'll need to clean and reapply. Because my house has four people, I only get one week. The sent has caused some problems for some people. The lemon and ocean fresh flavors aren't quite as strong as the others, in my opinion. I'm allergic to strong odors, but these don't bother me. It's too much lavender. I tuck mine under the rim to keep it hidden. I hope this has been of assistance.
