It won't make much of a difference in terms of noise reduction, in my opinion.
If the gap is 1/4" or less, the gap will be sealed if the gasketing is placed on each face; however, if the gap is 1/2" or less, gaps will appear if the gasketing is not perfectly aligned AND is not exactly 1/2" or less. Furthermore, with such a large gap, it will not look very nice.
This is an adhesive weatherstrip that is applied around the perimeter of a door frame to seal the gap around the door, preventing air and light from passing through.

m. every morning. Easy to install, and voila, I'm not having to listen to that turd walk around the hardwood with his heavy, unnecessarily loud stepping and closing of doors any longer! br>br>When pressed, this seal can become extremely thin. Forms well to a wide range of door gaps and is long-lasting. br>br>10/10 Would use it again to whip my roommate!.
At night, when all the lights were turned off inside, we noticed light peeping through the door perimeter, as well as any noise from the hallway. Place the gasket around the door stop to block light, reduce sound, and possibly reduce dust infiltration. The adhesive holds up well and hasn't peeled away.
It's a seal made of smoke. Pemko has been making this stuff for decades, and it's still the best; unlike foam insulation, it won't cause your door to stick or make noise. It blocks smoke, light around the edges of the door, and to a lesser extent, noise, and is well worth using on all of your interior doors.
There's less noise, and there's no light coming in through the door jamb! Don't waste your time with weatherstrips that are made of foam. I previously tried using a foam weatherstrip, and while it did provide a seal, it also made closing my door more difficult. Furthermore, this one appears to be better, with a higher-quality finish. foam strips at the end.
In the colder months, I used this on some porch windows to keep it a little warmer. It was simple to use and provided just the right amount of "seal" for my needs.
It's fantastic! extremely adaptable, and simple to set up Tip for Setup: When the selfstick doesn't stick, it could be because it's too old or because there's something wrong with the jamb. I mixed 1/4 cup lacquer thinner with 10 seconds of contact cement and painted it on the area where the seal would go. It's also perfect. It's not a good idea to use old chalky paint; instead, start with a fresh coat of paint.
My pain on the doorframe was well-adhered to. It compresses very well. It is simple to use.
