Questions & Answers
It was used for a 20" knife gate valve that has acidic conditions. It is rugged, so it can take whatever the environment throws at it. The type of lubricant I used and whether it was considered safe for use on boats I don't remember. The best place to get this information is from the original equipment manufacturer. It might be useful to me, though.
While I do not know how it will work in that application, it works equally well in a marine drive shaft stuffing box, for example.

A few times each year we use a 60 gallon agitator tank with a shaft through the bottom to mix sugar syrup to feed bees in the late fall, but I am not a fluid engineer. Prior to this I had used an old style flax based valve gland seal, but even with careful adjustments during breakage, the seal would only last a few months. Over time, all the air that's inside would leak out. It would result in a sticky mess covering everything on the floor when the drips from the shaft seal hit the spinning bottom flywheel. We do not require food grade, so I was advised to try the Palmetto 1347A PTFE lubricated packaging. My new stuffing box was installed today and I ran the mixer for hours. There was no leakage through the stuffing box, not even a drip! After a century of using the same agitator tank and stuffing box, I cannot believe I have waited all these years to get this stuff. It appears to be a real improvement over our old tank and stuffing box.
The seal material is on a spool of very high quality and is made to the appropriate diameter rather than being formed after.
Using it on a 5/8" X 4"stroke pump shaft and pumping 135 degrees of water at a pressure of up to 150 pounds, it pumps water at 135 degrees at high Nothing to worry about. Yes, I let it leak from 1 to 3 The average person drips two drops a minute out of stupidity and.
That's great!.
All went according to plan.
