How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

It has a 5/16" rope, a 7 foot long, and a 1 inch diameter. A 3 oz cement bag
With the help of this package you will have no problem replacing stove and fireplace gaskets with graphite-impregnated gaskets and one EZ-Spread tube of gasket cement
Traditional gaskets tend to unravel, while Rutland gaskets resist them, and prevent creosote or soot from adhering
If you use a wood or pellet stove, or a fireplace, replace the worn out gasket. This will restore the efficiency and safety of your stove
If your stove gasket needs to be replaced, Grapho-Glas gaskets should be your first choice

Pacific Energy Alderlea T6 door seals are 7 years old. With this kit, I was able to repair it. You need to ensure that the channel where the rope seal goes down to bare metal is flush with the surface of the machine. The original door was painted inside the channel, so I don't understand why it needs to be done. Still, I used a wire wheel on a drill to clear away all the debris from the channel before using 60 grit sandpaper on my hand to remove some This is wood stove paint on a surface of cast iron that has very irregularities If you use a sandblaster, you will not be able to get to bare metal everywhere. By hand sanding about 10% or more of the channel, I was able to get it to the bare metal. There are no thick silicone sealants included - The sealant supplied is thin like silicone Similar to thin paint you would find in a tube, it is thin and can be applied to a variety of surfaces. Because you have to squeeze the tube as you apply it, it can be tricky to apply. Anyway, I topped off the channel with adhesive after filling it, and then smoothed my finger across the channel so the adhesive fills it evenly and no excess protrudes. It might have helped if I wet the rope before applying it to the door, but I'm not sure whether it made a We started the rope midway up the channel next to the hinge, which is where it frayed immediately once we cut it. Type A personalities will dislike the tie, since the rope frays so easily Although the joint turned out acceptable, it was not perfect. If you are going to insert the rope into the channel, I do not advise you to draw it too tight. If you have to tie the rope, make sure that it is loose as you can and that it is not too tight Into the channel it goes. In any case, you run the risk of cutting it short and having the rope come loose at As the rope tends to pull out toward the center when you are in the corners, you should take your time. I finger pressed the entire circumference of the ring after my installation was complete. After cleaning up any excess, I poured the water into a bucket. Fortunately, there was not much excess to clean up, but I can imagine it would be messy if it was overfilled. Then, I closed the door to ensure that it would fit correctly and close smoothly. As a matter of fact, it In accordance with the instructions, I then opened the door and gave it an hour to work. After I had closed the door, I walked out. The stove had been on with its door open for 20 minutes before I started the fire (STOVE NOT SAFE! It would be hot) so that it would feel like that. After closing the door, I walked out of the room. There's a problem. of the adhesive had been absorbed by the 'clean' side of the rope, which had gotten The darn thing. It was my fault. The rope seal on that part of the rope was a little loose. It is now cured. I opened the door, let it cool, cleaned the channel in the affected area, reapplied glue, set by hand, shut the door, opened, and let the glue set. A good result has been achieved. There is no problem with the seal. It is in place, holding, and The directions could have been made slightly more detailed, so I gave this kit only four stars. In case the seal does not last for a couple of years, I will update this post. I can only say one thing for those having problems with this product preparation is critical. The process may not be successful if the channel is not very clean and contains more than bare metal. In addition to penetration of the sealant, the rope itself needs to be sealed. It is suggested that you wet the rope and gently push it in all the way around after installation with finger pressure.

A new use for the gasket kit is to fix a rattled exhaust pipe
5/5

This product worked well for a different application I used it for. A modification was necessary for the support cross member on my car after I had my transmission replaced. Originally, the exhaust pipes that went through the cross member were fitted with fixed supports. A modified cross member rattled, but did not budge. To hold the gasket material in place, I lifted the pipes up with a jack and wrapped them in the gasket material. There will be no more arguing!.

There are a lot of problems with the adhesive, but the gasket is ok
3/5

It should not be put near food until it has been fired a couple times and cured fully. It will look as if you have fiberglass hairs all over. I was not able to get it to work on My UDS smoker's lid was not sealed with it when I tried to seal it with it. My fault is probably greater than anyone else's. Permatex high temperature copper gasket sealer is the product I'd recommend if you decide to use it. That has made a big difference.

My smoker will not be happy with this
3/5

While the materials for the gasket are fine, the adhesives are terrible In parenthesis. The area around my smoker door had to be cleaned and sanded to a tee and I About four months into use, the gasket has begun to pull away. As long as I have high temperature sealer I will use it.

Worked but did not work properly
3/5

It was purchased for securing the door of my grill smoker/heat box more tightly to prevent air from entering. The directions instructed me to do exactly what they said. I went out to grill the day after I had put it on and all three parts of the product (including the sealant) fell off that door when I lifted it up.

It's OK for the gasket to leak, but the cement shouldn't have been used
3/5

As you can see, the rope is awesome. When I tried to open the cement, I was not able to do so. Due to the purchase of the fireplace motor along with the fire place, the installation was not complicated Here's the problem. It wouldn't be worth it to count on.

Despite its great rope and mediocre glue, this is a very good product
3/5

Besides being decent in terms of its quality, the rope has some elasticity that allows it to be pulled slightly thinner or thicker depending on how much slack we give it. What bothered me most was the cement that came with it. After drying, it became extremely hard and crusty. It was very slippery when applied and became very hard When I had put the rope on the lid of the barbecue smoker, it came right off. If possible, it would be best to also buy some Rutland 500 degree high temperature silicone, as it has a much better grip. Because of the cement issue, the overall experience was mediocre.
