We have an old oil furnace and the relay started to fail, causing a constant clicking noise; I got this part and simply removed the module from the plate, clicked it into the existing plate on my furnace, and replaced all the leads. BE CAREFUL not to push the terminals down onto the board; if this occurs, gently pry the backside of the board back up until it clicks back into place. Arcing can be caused by dust or debris, so make sure everything is clean and dust-free. I'm not sure why the board's bottom is so exposed. Design flaws. I'm also not sure why that metal plate couldn't be made of something non-conductive but still heat resistant, as that would prevent arcing. br>br>To cut a long story short, if you have a lot of clicking, you'll need this part. Problem solved, and while I was at it, I installed a new thermostat; everything has been fine since then.
It was a perfect match for the original. There are no stripped or cross-threaded screws or tabs on this set. threaded. Wear gloves because the edges are razor-sharp. br>.
The existing part's relay had failed, but this one easily replaced it. br>br>One thing to keep in mind if you're going to try this replacement: Simply label the wires as you disconnect them and take lots of photos. It's simple to become disoriented by the wires.
