Everyone makes Halloween props out of these pneumatic cylinders. They're very adaptable, with a variety of mounting options that let you set up your prop in a variety of ways.

If you're using gravity or weight to push the cylinder back down, you can use these with a 2-way or 3-way solenoid. When the solenoid is triggered, air is forced into the bottom hole, rapidly raising the rod.

When air is applied, these double-acting cylinders quickly extend, and when the Solenoid is triggered (when used with a 4-way solenoid), they quickly retract.

The cylinder's diameter is measured in this way. More air is required to open the cylinder with a larger bore size, which means more torque (power) is required to move things. With this 1" BORE, you can expect to get around 100 lbs. at 100 pounds per square inch of force Stroke: This refers to how far out the cylinder's shaft will extend when fully extended. Straight or npt 3mm or 1/8?

It is preferable to use 3mm. This set of fittings is included with the cylinder. However, if you prefer, a 1/8" straight threaded fitting will work.

1/8" (3mm) It has two 1/4" airline tubing fittings included.

What else would I need to make this move at a slower, more controllable pace (approximately 20-minutes)? 30 seconds for a full stroke while maintaining 100 pounds of force)?

On the downstream side of the cylinder, you could install a speed control valve to limit the amount of air that leaves the cylinder while maintaining full air pressure on the pressure side.
