There is not enough space to put any lock on the patio doors, and the wall is just next to the doors. I have my patio doors attached very tricky so that there is hardly any room to put any lock. I have attached a few pictures to illustrate my point. It really is a small lock (you can view its manual online to see how small it is), I love it, and it fits perfectly to my door. Even though the installation is a bit tricky, it only took me less than 2 hours to complete, including drilling through the door and learning how it works (the instructions are not too bad, you just need to understand them). It was necessary for me to add some soft touch felt pads (those used under furniture) on the bottom of the door in order to get it to not close all the way, but I'm not bothered by it.
