There were a few minor hiccups. On a pallet, the unit was delivered on time. Special delivery deadlines are required, and signatures are required. It was nice that the driver returned the pallet. br>br>Assembly was simple. If you want to make any changes to your tower, such as adding internal insulation or a cooling fan, now is the best time to do so. br>br>Minor disappointments: 1) Mine had a compression dent (more of a buckled appearance) on the left side of the cabinet when it arrived. It's difficult to see in my setup, so it's not worth returning. br>2) Kegco taps (493K-1) were among the two. CFBL) stands for "throwaway" in the English language. Due to the sugars in the beers drying after 48 hours, they stick solidly like glued in place. a Summer saison and an Oktoberfest Why include these taps with such a nice kegerator, unless it's to save a few dollars? My old Danby kegerator from Costco lasted many years and the generic plated taps worked fine; however, after further investigation, the clearances on these included Kegco taps are too wide. When the tap is turned off, more beer can get stuck in the mechanism. The old no-name tap has tighter clearances and performed admirably in this kegerator during testing. The Perlick 630SS replacements (which were purchased out of pocket) worked flawlessly. br>br>The Good: br>1) Customer service (phone) was extremely helpful in answering my questions about the contents of the package. It was a waste of time to send and receive emails. 2) Temperature control. Simply call and speak with a live person. br> I put a thin wire probe inside the unit that was calibrated. The air temperature in dead center cycled pretty consistently between 32F and 36F and water in bottle was 34F in a 70F/45%RH room with unit set to 34F and water in That was a pleasant surprise, and it came as a complete surprise. The front door panel has the least effective insulation. When the compressor is turned off, it runs 5 degrees cooler than room temperature, while the other three sides show room temperature. br>3) A 5 Kegco CO2 canister that is empty (red). Filling was $15 at my local distributor. In contrast to "new" no-name CO2 canisters, which they will not fill without first testing. br>4) Interior size. The extra space for up to three homebrew kegs or one 1/2 barrel commercial keg is a nice bonus. br>br>Despite a few flaws, the Kegco K309SS-II is a solid performer. 2 kegerator appears to be a high-quality kegerator that should last a long time.
This kegerator came with no instructions on how to set it up. There were no instructions for putting the tanks, tubes, or regulator together. This was difficult to set up because I had never used a kegerator or corny kegs before. br>br>Secondly, this kegerator came with the wrong package - We ordered a double tap tower for a corny keg, but it was delivered with a single tap tower for a Sanke keg. When I contacted Kegco, they agreed to send me a double tap tower. They did a good job with that part. The parts, on the other hand, are all shoddy and poorly made. The regulator does not appear to be working, and the tank has leaks (all of which were included in the conversion kit that was sent with the order). There were no leaks in any of the lines or connections that we checked. Without even using the kegerator except for a test glass, I went through a 5 pound CO2 tank in a couple of days. Again, we checked all of the lines and connectors for leaks and found none (using the soap bubble test), but the second CO2 tank is going through so quickly that we're not sure if the regulator isn't registering properly or there's a leak in the actual tank that we can't detect. In any case, we're not having any luck with this. Finally, the kegerator's chrome railing was damaged when it arrived. Because it does not fit into the holes provided, one side is always protruding from the railing. It appears to be in bad shape.
I bought the Kegco brand after a recommendation from a local brewery, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. First and foremost, this was the first time I had made such a large purchase on Amazon, so I was interested to see how the process would go. After I placed the order, The Beverage Factory was very responsive in their communication, and they were able to expedite the delivery at no extra cost. Keep in mind that this is a freight delivery, not a UPS or FedEx delivery. br>br>When I got it, everything was packaged as expected, and I was up and running in no time; I set the kegerator to "Deep Chill" mode, and it immediately began cooling. It was cold and ready for a keg in less than an hour. While you wait for your kegerator to arrive, I strongly advise you to look into where you can get the Co2 tank that came with it filled. It took me a few days to figure out where I could put it. FYI - Even though Dicks Sporting Goods can fill smaller tanks for paintball guns, they can't fill the Kegco Co2 tank. br>br>Once I got my first keg, everything fell into place. Remember to order couplers that will fit a standard 6th barrel keg (pony keg) when you place your order. This kegerator only has fittings for homebrew kegs, not commercial kegs. br>br>Finally, after tinkering with the CO2 tank and dialing in the proper amount of pressure behind the beer, I was up and running. Finally, paying a little more for the two faucet option is highly recommended. Even though it costs a little more, it is ultimately worthwhile. br>Thank you, Kegco and The Beverage Factory, for making this a fantastic transaction for a fantastic product. br>Cheers and please drink responsibly.
