It's made of regular stainless steel, which I have. It isn't completely dark.

If you're going to use it as a built-in, be cautious

By putting in a previously built-in spot, I almost ruined it. 2" in the back and 1/2" on the top and sides are absolutely essential. After removing it from the cabinet slot, it appears to be in good shape. Support was thoughtful and accommodating.
