Is this safe to use in a potable water system (well water)? Just downstream of my pump, I'll need to install a strainer. ?

Although it is not recommended for use with potable water, many people do so.

In an irrigation system, good quality appears to withstand freezing

This strainer is extremely durable. In my irrigation system, this is exactly what I'm looking for. After a previous strainer of another brand was broken by frost, I've been leaving this one connected in freezing temperatures and it's been working fine so far.
